"We're working on the ability to buy Golden Weapons"

blizzard forced a change nobody asked for and they know people will hate it, then they revert the change and pretend they listen feedback, oh blizzard you are so smart

but again no guarantee they will revert this change “we are working on it” WHY MAKE IT SOUND IS TOO HARD TO IMPLEMENT? just unlock golden wepaons, jesus this company really wants to kill the game

I will always be convinced that their engine they use is just wildly unwieldy even after the “upgrade” for OW2, on top of absurd amounts of bureaucratic red tape to make any meaningful decision. I just get the vibe that they are extremely inefficient, but it’s so entrenched that it’s unlikely to change

  1. People complain about not being able to buy more with CP
  2. Blizzard removes the only option available for 7 years to add a new one
  3. Game Director gives loose promise over returning former option in a few months

whats worst, blizzard dont make changes fast because they are scummy or because they literally cant, they are that incompetents?

So they are fixing something and people get mad about that it currently not works. I mean wtf is the problem of people like this:

IDK, it seems like Blizzard “giving people what they want” is often the monkey’s paw. Why can’t it just be a straightforward “okay, here’s a new skin you can buy with CP?” Oftentimes it seems like Blizzard comes up with contrived ways to “give people what they want” that has some totally unnecessary cost or downside to it. That doesn’t seem unreasonable to be upset about IMO.

Sure, they’re fixing it, but why change it in the first place? That’s the question to ask of a HUGE number of changes in OW2.

fixing a mistake that shouldnt have happened at all because was not a mistake but a decision made is not something to cheer

Here comes the first one defending a terrible decision that shouldn’t have ever been even suggested. I’m not asking for anyone to get fired. I’m not even asking for them to apologize. Mistakes happen, maybe they shouldn’t rush out content without thinking twice. Many people have waited for years to buy something new with CP. I’m sure they can wait a few years more for it to be implemented correctly the first time.

so are they just getting rid of legacy comp credits then? cause whats their point if you can buy with current currency

notice what aaron is saying, “buy golden weapons with the new 2024 competitive points” which implies they will keep two currencies, why make it so complicated? why not unlock golden weapons like always and delete theother currency?

The important thing is that they have rectified it. I hope they don’t scare me anymore.

They haven’t. Not yet. They are going to “try” to fix it… Next season.

yeah but thats also pretty redundant statement…because (before this announcement) you could buy gold guns with the new currency also…you just had to wait til end of year when they get converted

(i agree the whole thing is dumb)

no they havent, like i said no guarantee

*season 10 comes, aaron keller directors take:
“we can deliver the qulity you deserve so you cant buy golden weapons, is not our priority to make them avalible again”

our problem is that they come out with this idiotic extra currency that no one wants, making it impossible to buy gold guns unless you have “legacy” currency, none of which should have happened. then act like they’re Jesus parting the seas for Moses when they decide to revert it

i feel like everything they do is just to trick people. and it works.
they’re not even devs to me anymore, they’re like the used car salesmen of video games.

used cars at least works

IMHO, it’s because people see the Devs creating problems where no problem existed before, and didn’t need to exist.

They created a new currency system, because they didn’t want people in the current system, with a considerable bank of credits, to immediately be able to buy their new colored weapons when they come available.

In the same way that they changed the type of coin you earn in OW2, away from the coin people had banked in OW1. They didn’t want them to be able to purchase passes and skins for “free”.

With these Comp weapons, they should have kept the same currency, and just continued to add different and interesting weapons skins to the store you could purchase with only comp points. Gold, jade, ruby, jello, plastic, junker, whatever. They should have let people just choose what they wanted. That would have created more interest, and pulled more people into comp…IMHO.

you’re really asking, what’s the problem with devs doing changes for the sake of doing changes that achieve nothing in the end?

“oh, you were a dedicated player for years, that also had to buy the game to play it?”

“well screw you then”

“I will make all your accumulated currency useless”

  • Blizzard probably
