Were Private Profiles the End for Overwatch?

I think the act of hiding the profile is actually crazy in a competitive game. I have no idea why it was ever an idea from Blizzard and really started the downfall of this game.

We now have hidden SR, hidden groups in matches, hidden hero pools and we just queue into games having no idea about any of it.

Someone can have a 10% winrate on a character, happily play that character while your team is getting rolled. You have no idea they lose most of their games using said character and you just watch as your entire match becomes a waste of 5minutes of your life.

The game genuinely needs to wake up to where it is, manipulating games,

During the match, you what

Weren’t aware your teammate was struggling to finish targets (assuming DPS) struggling to hold the line

Couldn’t reach people who needed heals?

The profile might be private, the in match performance is clear as day. Even I, have had off days and asked if I needed help

So… talk to your team, offer help, advice

Say literally anything to them during the match if they seem to be struggling

  1. Because people used open profiles to be toxic against other players
  2. Groups are not hidden in competative. Try invite them to a group during the match and it’ll say they are in a group or that you cant invite during comp mode.

Because people like you are looking to find ANY reason they didn’t win and they were being toxic about peoples profiles, so they took that away. Blame them… and possibly yourself.

Private profiles became active during some of the most successful years of the franchise. It was hardly a downfall and literally reduced toxicity reports.

You’re playing video games, it’s not exactly productive time anyway.

Private profiles haven’t done anything to Overwatch other than make it impossible for people to harass others based on their game stats.

And that’s a good thing.

So basically OP needed a carry.

Yeah… you definitely are the reason private profiles are a thing. Blame yourself.

That’s 500 people

What about people in the rank below them? And the rank below those

I know I know, T500 is the best of the best

But when it comes to the population of Ow2 I feel like it is a bad representation

So going down two more ranks and seeing how many of those people hide their profiles, I feel that would represent OW much better

No, next question.

But seriously, players being toxic and finding more reasons to attack another player would end it quicker.

I’ve always kept my profile open btw. It’s just not a big deal, I just hope that when they allow players to hide player lvl, there’s an option to still show the top3 without hero lvls cause that can be pretty useful to know rather than full hide it.

Can’t all is banable. No one is in VC and typing anything is an instant report.

Maybe you should take the day off for mental health yourself. You aren’t hard lashing out at people on the Overwatch forum, G.

Beyond that, my profile is open. If you think I care about who YOU want me to play, you loco. It changes nothing. I could have a zero percent winrate on Reinhardt and I still ain’t swapping even if all 9 of you beta get on your knees and beg.

The only thing it was the end of really was the amount of crying I heard when I would try new characters in various modes. Silence is truly bliss.

Not everything is an instant report, and yeah I’ll consider that maybe telling someone to switch could get you reported

That’s why I said to offer help. Talk to your team, people talk to me in game, you can take the risk and talk to others.

And, if you do lose your account, tell blizzard I told you to offer assistance when people needed help

Do mental health conditions exist?

It is not uncommon for a T500 to have a hidden profile.

I don’t see much harm in showing the SR of everyone at the end of a match, in the game report, at least

no, it has absolutely no bearing on the game of OW

It’s funny how you think they would do such things even with an open profile. Nobody listens to anyone but themselves in chat or voice.

Also they are private because of people like you so keep crying and scapegoating the profiles you stalk. Looking at their useless inaccurate info won’t save you.

And what exactly could you do with their profile in this moment?
Get even more mad because you see their winrate?

Not to mention that they have been in Overwatch for years now and here we all are still playing. So, I think it’s obvious that they didn’t exactly “end” it.

It’s always funny when people talk about it being a dead game and then it continues to not die.
