my point is that this is a natural thing. not a measure of desperation from fans.
the dev updates have never been frequent. they usually only happen when they have something new to say or some up and coming stuff to announce. Which is why people get excited. plus people are equating it with the “end of summer social feature” that was talked of long ago. Why wouldn’t people get excited for that?
God Forbid people are excited by updates to their game! I mean, how dare they! People aren’t allowed to be excited about things I don’t find exciting!

Except the developer updates are used mainly to communicate, which this community is getting starved.
