i think there has been only one instance that i felt that i did something. most of the time im just dying lol
Sym’s main job is to spam M2 at the spawn door and get her teleporter down. Once that’s up, her job is done. Everything else is bonus (and don’t waste charges on your teleporter when you die. Just walk back).
Her beam range is too short and does too little damage to matter, so avoid using it unless you’re getting dived by a Genji. Setting up the car wash (6 turret trap) is nice if you can find a corner to block off a path.
She is extremely passive. You let your deployables do all the work while you keep firing slow orbs and hope someone forgets you are shooting at them. Especially barrier boys. Dankey Kang and What a Night for a Knight will get hit by at least one, probably.
i like the ol basket-ball of death method but one junkrat and your fun is ruined
she is nice as a tp bot and orb cannon tho but dont expect too much of her
i just had a game on anubis or that egyptian place where i put my porter on the top floor… we got the point but after that i got destroyed… 2nd point i mean. probably should have switched off lol
Her gun can’t even pick stuff up like it used to.
Lame.
But you can still trick your team into walking off the map tho, which is the only valid reason to play symm.
She is cool it’s more that she and torb are like engineers
I think orignal idea is to have them like operators gadget people doing more of craft work than fight while others handled fight but then we know how the playerbase played
I really like stuff like this doing setups and busy work but it probably doesn’t work in this game or format.
It’s nice to have sym though that tp is super useful and shield hp lets you take some duels like pharmacy a bit more aggressively.
deployables are an interesting mechanic! however, overwatch has no sappers, direct hits, and demomen so i feel like giving people more things to shoot at (along side the other 5-6 things to already be shooting at (including allies if youre a support)) is a bit complicated

Beam is the weakest part of her kit. Don’t use it and don’t try make use out of it unless someone jumps into your face.
Her TP can be very really effective…
she had the highest win rate in season 1 like 60% FYI
maybe you are playing her wrong. she is not a front line dps
she is supper effective and a counter to genji and tracer.
I thought there might be some sort of invisible power that we weren’t seeing back then because of the lack of information in the game in 2016. Her mitigation numbers are extreme, so I locked her in a few times to see if that 25 shield was really making that big a difference.
Despite the big numbers, I can count the number of times that I could definitely say that somebody was saved by the shield on one hand. Unless I’m missing something, the only real tangible benefit she brings is still teleporter. And that alone isn’t worth the downsides of the rest of her kit to me.
