Yeah, he did say that. But this was objectively one of the worst blizzcon for Diablo and Overwatch. They were basically nothing that was not expected. We got an animated short (who’s kinda cool btw) and a new hero. That is all the content. The only thing else we have is some more informations about new heroes that we don’t really need to know. Who cares about knowing that 6 new heroes are in development, I mean that’s cool, but that won’t bring me the joy/hype that a new social feature would, that a new map or at least new blizzard theme skins would. And we know thay have this type of content coming, but they miss a huge opportunity to reveal it at the blizzcon. And fans (at least me) are not all fan of this few content reveals.
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment
I imagine besides hero announcements / cinematics the majority of what folks can discuss here is character middle names, pizza toppings, and other things Chu tweets now and then. The company priorities about ‘lore’ aren’t the same as what players might have–and it is their product at the end of the day.
Maybe there’ll be some story explosion some day, but I doubt it.
Well they did bring two cinematics with pretty short delay between them, maybe something similar will be with comics, like a whole series that connected with each other unlike previous ones that tells completely different stories.
Do they mentioned whats this “New, well requested game mode instead of a new map” and cosmetic updates? Because i dont remember if they have mentioned. This is like “Heres a new short and hero. Have fun at BlizzCon”
The worst part is they hyped up Echo with confirming that she will be playable and put her in a cinematic. The same thing will happen to her with Sombra and Doomfist. Overhyped heroes became F tier trollpicks and players will be disappointed with the results. Sombra and Doomfist are just now became meta heroes after 1-2 years.
I mean they literally told us to keep our expectations low this year. They said there’s going to be less new content because they want to work on the core gameplay and fine-tuning it. This takes up resources. They already said there wouldn’t be a new map at Blizzcon. I think everyone took that “leak” way too seriously, set their expectations too high, and were dissapointed.
I expected a new hero and a new short, but honestly I found my expectations were exceeded. I love the short and the hero is one of my favourites already without playing her.
Having said that, it doesn’t explain the lack of lore this year, but to be honest, I think the Overwatch team in general lost their way a little and have only started regaining it in the last few months.
I’m going against a lot of players but I was never disappointed. I do love the content that we received during 2018. Retribution, D.Va short, Ashe/McCree short and Busan, Wrecking Ball… but that’s just me.
Even worse is that old characters get nothing new and no new information, after 2,5 years. They could have filled the entirety of blizzcon with lore but hey, as a Zenyatta fan I’ve grown used to being disappointed at the lack of lore lol.
Yes, I am disappointed. Very much. It’s actually sad. I stopped playing a while ago, but occasionally go back to play every 2 months just to see what is going on. I come on here in the hopes of having something to rejuvenate my energy to play this again, give it meaning and having the fun I did when it first launched.
Nothing. I was hoping for comic previews, maybe even a LIST of organized plans detailing what is to come, you know, like a good organized multi billion dollar company should do? But no. Why do I even bother anymore I truly question myself.
Have YOU been anywhere in the past 3 days? If so then you’d know they only shown 1 hero (1 future one) and a short. That is jack to nothing. No map, no new modes, no nothing. Pathetic.
Cool, she is neat but guess what? That was the only thing! Oh and lore? Ha. I’ll believe it when I see it.
Yeah, “storylines” as in “Hey, remember these heroes? Yeah 4 years from now, we STILL won’t cover it but don’t worry! One day!” - Multi-Billion dollar company that apparently can’t afford writers or publishers or hire more workers for some reason.
“We have 6 new heroes in development!” Yeah ok, so what? You give us a new hero every 4 months anyways? What’s new? The fact it’s quicker? No? More balanced? No? Then why even tell us this when nothing of value came from it?
“We have more comics coming!” They said this last year and we had jack squat presented to us. 1 comic…ONE. Retribution.
We had way more stuff the previous Blizzcons. If you think this is actually “a lot” when it’s subpar, then that is kind of sad fam.
I know bro, I know it wasn’t from you…I never said it was. I am saying that if you think what the devs are “providing you with” is anything to be proud of when it it’s literally nothing compared to past Blizzcons then that is sad. I am saying that just because it’s “from the devs” it doesn’t make it good considering they have been saying this stuff for years now…
I know, It’s not speculation but they said this before, and it was from Michael Chu’s mouth last year I believe, that we were to get more lore, and we didn’t so regardless if it is from then or not, it’s isn’t helping is my point as they even can’t keep promises that were said the last past year.
They are saying this just to shut us up, but it’s literally nothing.
