I’ve been wondering why my attitude towards Overwatch has changed so much recently. I used to be entirely PMA and wholesome, but recently I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting mad at my teammates (I still keep it to myself, but I’m just angry while playing). I finally realized why.
Weekly challenges are some of the the biggest ways to progress in the Battle Pass. However, 5 of the 11 Battle Pass missions require winning in order to complete. After I realized this, I realized why I cared so much about my teammates and how they were playing, even though I was playing unranked. Because if my teammates don’t play well, then I simply can’t progress in the Battle Pass.
I understand why winning should be incentivized, but there need to be more weekly challenges focused around just having fun. Most of the “fun” challenges are just dailies, and are entirely optional (since there’s no purpose in completing daily challenges after completing 3 of them, which usually happens in 1 or 2 games anyway).
I think challenges that ask players to play certain heroes, get a certain amount of headshots, etc would be a lot more fun. It would make it so that players can do things themselves to progress on the battle pass, instead of relying on their team. Relying on your team for victory in Unranked is bound to make casual players frustrated and not want to continue playing the game.
I think it makes a lot more sense to just have one or two weekly challenges asking the player to achieve some number of victories. But requiring victory for half of them is simply pushing players too hard to win.
