options → change hero to the one you want it on → hero & hud → reticle → advanced

Interesting. So, this is just for the small handful of beam characters? Or does it also indicate whether you are going to be subject to fall-off for hitscan?

i dont think so, specifically only mentions zarya and sym. although i have not tested sym, or any other hero. my assumption based only off the notes its for those two above mentioned chars

A bit odd that they didn’t also give to Moira. Maybe because it’s auto lock so it doesn’t matter. 
Or maybe because she doesn’t waste ammo when out of range?

This might be it, because its not auto lock. Its just an animation for a very thick hit box.

Seems a bit redundant. To get the indicator you already have to be looking at target. Might as well start shooting and see if HP bar appears…
