We really need new tanks and supports fast

Forcing people to play other roles by giving them rewards isn’t going to solve queue times (yes I’m talking about priority passes). We really need new tanks and supports. I know major reworks weren’t supposed to happen before OW2 comes out but at this rate DPS queue times will plummet to the point that one queue time will take literally 6 hours.

Can you please at least give us an update to the new heroes introduced for OW2? There needs to be some news about more tanks so people take some sort of interest. Or maybe an experimental that changes heroes to different roles?

Yes, it would be pretty sick if they’d committed to making this game the best they could instead of recycling events for years, working content that could have spiked enthusiasm for this game into “Overwatch 2” in order to create shareholder value and generally being terrified of letting heroes be unique and powerful

Whew. I need to catch my breath.

Only way you’d get new Tanks is by taking them from other roles.

That said, Mei should be a Tank.

Further, the issue with why tank is unpopular is that they are too reliant on teammates to get things done.

Tanks need some form of out-of-combat full-heal.
And for the tanks that don’t have Roadhog/Zarya level firepower, maybe more firepower.

Mei’s not that popular in the first place (probably because she’s already a tank gameplay-wise, and tank playstyle isn’t that popular either), so that seems unlikely to move very many people between roles.

To be fair, the problem with Tank is mostly an undesirable playstyle.

Dunno why people are so hung up on the idea that “Just add more tank” would fix that.

Every new Tank or Support has broken the game in half for years. I’m kind of scared of these new additions, unless it’s a whole Meka squad …Who needs balance when you can ride out in style with your friends.

Agreed, but I don’t see how “Just remove some DPS and add more Tank” is any better.

I also don’t think it’s a problem that needs to be solved by homogenization as you usually seem to suggest, but that’s kind of a separate discussion

Are you crazy? Do you actually believe, they would give us support players air to breath? We are the ugly step-children nobody wants, we are the inbred, the imbeciles, the docile douches. Nothing will be given to us, zit, zero, naught.

I don’t think it’s because the tank and support heroes are boring to play.

When you’re new to Overwatch it’s very likely for you to main a DPS hero just because there are so many of them.
And the devs didn’t even try to address this problem. In fact most of the new heroes were DPS heroes.

DPS (+5): Sombra, Doomfist, Symmetra, Ashe, Echo (3 of them used to be support heroes)
Supports (+3): Ana, Moira, Brigitte, Baptiste, minus Symmetra
Tanks (+3): Orisa, Wrecking Ball, Sigma

Making the tanks/supports overpowered won’t solve anything. They should stop adding DPS heroes all the time first.

What good are more tanks and supports when all tanks and supports are allowed to be equally inferior to Reinhardt and Ana?

We need to kill the favoritism in balancing FIRST. Then we can have more heroes.

If the tanks don’t have shields then they will be useless.
If the supports don’t have either hitscan, stun or some sort of team support that can be up 100% of the time (lucios speed) then they will be useless.

What are they going to add, another healbot with another damage amp ability?

No one forces anyone by offering an enticement to play…

No one forces you to do anything in Overwatch.

Choices like “Well you can play Orisa if you’re ok with losing” aren’t actually choices.

There always are choices. You can choose not to. I didn’t say there no choices… and I didn’t say they were easy ones either.

They need to be more interesting designs as well.

The devs seem to have very little imagination when it comes to Tanks and Supports and new ways of doing their jobs. The last few have primarily just been lightly remixed versions of old abilities.

And time and time again, when they have come up with something more interesting, they quickly throw in the towel the moment any issue comes up and toss the hero into DPS instead.

I’m sick of these false choices always being offered on the same bloody heroes.

How about “It’s fine to play Reinhardt if you’re ok with losing” for once? I’m sick of him!

They are locked into a paradigm of range. Rein is an easy design, the most interesting tank design IMNSHO is Zarya. She interacts with the enemy, giving them ultimately some control of her ability to make and take and hold space. Some early designs were quite inspired. Now, we get Bap which was the most repeated simple design ever. WB is… good, but somewhat flawed, and would be been a better DPS than a tank design. Sigma might do well to lose the shield and in return get a “blackhole” ability like his special ability instead… more of those kinds of designs would shake things up.

They messed it up when they didn’t include winning as a pre-requisite for getting the priority pass. Now players are throwing or at least soft-throwing for the passes and it’s just a complete chocolate show

They should definitely change it to you only getting the passes if you win, at least that would give players an incentive to try and win instead of outright throwing or soft throwing.
At least in my opinion that’s what they should do.

Yeah. Sigma was an interesting character, like his origin story video was soooooo good. They just kinda…screwed things up with the implementation of his design.
