We NEED to have... A TALK

I’ll be brief.

We’ve all been there at some point in our gaming lives so I’ll step off the horse.

But listen, we need to talk.

There is a reason that communication, particularly on the mic correlates so strongly with a higher SR.

There is a reason it gets steadily less toxic as you move up in SR.

I’m not talking any scientific metrics here but this has been my experience, absolutely. I’ve heard as much from my high ranking friends.

There’s a conversation we’re not having.

What’s wrong? Are you using medals to figure out where the weak points in your comp are? That’s what they’re for, ask any leauger or master. Not very useful otherwise.

Or do you just get pissed and complain?

Can’t take criticism in an online video game?
Can’t treat someone you don’t know with a little respect when asking about their performance or asking them to switch it up or step up?

Hey, if you’re nicer off the get go, they’ll respond much better.

I’m not advocating you take someones crap, but don’t be that guy.

Well have fun in low platinum and below.

Get a $5 mic.
Actively communicate about the game.
Actively communicate about the medals to find weak points in the comp, especially in spawn in any following rounds.
Do it like you’re not ODing on testosterone.

I guarantee a higher SR and lower blood pressure!

At the end of the day, that report button and that mute button and that avoid button will probably help a lot more than a heated argument that distracts from the game and screws you over.

Sadly some people are so afraid of being insulted they refuse to join VC, but still play competitive

They are sadly part of the problem

But if you do these simple things yourself and do a bit of warming up like the pros do… you’ll probably get to a higher SR where a lot more people use mics.

It’s a 6 player game but I refuse to think I’m powerless to rank up to where I can hear more mics.

You can probably get to around Diamond without VC. It’s not really possible beyond that.

Some cheap mics are pretty terrible though, especially cheap headsets.

There’s a good portion of people out there who use their mic and I can barely understand what they’re saying.

That’s probably because they’re speaking at it and not into it. Unless their mic is from WWII, it should be totally fine if they’re speaking into it correctly.

It can be cheap cheap cheap and still be fine for gaming. laying it somewhere on the desk and speaking will not work well with most mics that even cost a lot more.

See man, you’re using logic and reason, and that does not fly here
