We need more fanart on this forum

I’ve seen one recent thread that was about someone drawing chars with different expressions

Really enjoyed following that, but we need more content like that on this forum

I’ll practice drawing Tracer from 3D models as reference for a while now to get her shapes into my visual memory. Wanna make some own fanart of her too. Could also just post what I drew yesterday if you want, but it’s really just a 1 to 1 copy of a 3D model I used as reference.

I miss the yesteryears on the oldforum when we had dozens of topics of new game ideas, fan art, hero concepts, and well plain old fun.

This community was SO AWESOME in 2016 and 2017, then in 2018 holy cow did it died. There’s stillpeople making new content but maybe like 2-5% of what it used to be.

Sadly to post pictures you need to be level 3 trust. And to achieve that you need to meet specific criteria:

  • Never be punished;
  • Post a lot;
  • Read a lot;
  • Be everyday on forums;
  • Bend the knee to chinise goverment

Not everyone can do that. And if you cannot post your fine artwork of Mercy you spend 5000 hours making you lose heart and just go to websites where you can.

you can be punished because i got a day ban because of brigading falseflagging moira players but i can still post links.

The fan art days are over, people or artist moved on to newer games to get inspirations from!

Its sad, im one of the artist who regularly draw OW fanarts but even in Deviant Art, overwatch fanart is few and now its filled with Good Omens fanart and other newer stuff!

thing with fan art is soon everyone starts spamming their halfbaked rubbish looking for attention and ruins it for the people who put the effort to create decent work.

fixed, nice catch i type too fast and being dyslexic that isnt a good trait to have (unless your words per minute are accurate.)

Effort is effort.

Everyone started out somewhere and wants to share what they made. You can’t just exclude beginners, because you don’t like the visuals of their work.

no i disagree, beginners spamming is the fastest way to kill off peoples interest in looking at fan art. there needs to be quality control. ideally everyone could submit art and then a bunch of the best are selected and posted.

Or make two threads

One for beginners to post and one for more advanced artists

Spam issues solved, because the second thread will get quality checked anyway

You can always post the link with spaces inbetween. Most of the time some lvl 3 poster comes in within the hour to repost the link so everyone can see immediately.

It’s a bit of a detour, but it’s not like this is some major deterrent for people. If you look at sites like Deviantart you barely find any new Overwatch related fanart either.

I can somewhat agree to this

Art community is a different environment altogether and it can be pretty toxic as well, but yes some artist will just capitalized on whats In and will post rushed pieces to get likes etc!
As soon as many artist spam them with low effort arts it loses its charm.
But we cant really blame some new artist who is starting to draw and is genuinely passionate about what they create even if what other people call or see them as ugly drawings.
