Hello!
Ill get right to it - am i the only one here that is in big need of a way to chat with friends?
The problem is that when someone is already in game or in another party it is next to impossible to join together with them? I mean seriously can we just have a way to text chat with our friends? Atleast out of a match?!
We already got party and match voice chat so please give us the last bit of the cake
Edit: im talking about the Nintendo Switch, forgot to mention that.
Edit 2: fixed typo and made the post abit more clear.
Itās Nintendos fault, for some reason they donāt support mics except though their app.

Actually Overwatch on switch uses in-game voicechat. The app is only used for Nintendo games mostly.
Are there age restrictions and/or parental controls for voice chat in the Nintendo switch, like there are for XBox One XBL?
Nintendo refuses to grow up and only want to design things for 7 year olds.
I realized this years ago when I couldnāt even discuss what I did badly post-match on Smash 4 to discuss things. Nintendo thinks talking to strangers is basically the devil because they keep wanting to aim it towards children, but then say itās not for children, but giving adults no features we use.
Didnāt the Wii U use Netflix as like a $5 app?

Not true, it is an opt in feature, and Overwatch could just let people use their mics if they wanted.
Nintendo switch supports both in game voice chat and text chat since a few updates back, so it is up to blizzard to use the SDK to activate it for the game.
For example Arena of valor lets you text chat and voice chat in game
And Overwatch lets you voice chat while in a match aswell but no text chat.
All this without the Nintendo smartphone app.
Heck why wouldnt blizzard atleast let us use the battlenet smartphone app to text chat with our friends who have their blizzard account linked to Overwatch.
Like my biggest problem is when i login and see friends online and try to invite them it says ācannot invite friends who are currently in a competitive match or queueā and there is no way for me yo text them and tell them to invite me before instant queing againā¦
And 2 months ago nintendo even added āgame inviteā which allows us to invite a friend who is playing some other game to come play overwatch with me, that way they will atleadt see a notification that i tried to invite them BUT, its up to the game developers to activate this feature in their games.
There is nothing stoping the devrlopers to add text chatting while out of a match, its just that nintendos OS doesnt natively support it on the nintendo social hub but nintendo have given the developers all they need to do so.
While i finally get in group with a friend if im lucky then its pretty seemless just connect USB wireless headset to talk to them so to point it out again the problem is if you are not yet in a group, then there is no way of communicating!
Sorry for the long post!
WHY U DO DIZ BLIZZARD?!
Hereās how voice chat works in games.
You plug in a mic, you enter the game, and people hear you/talk to you.
Thereās no apps, thereās no channel, thereās plug and play and thatās it. Welcome to 2019.
Yes but i suggest you read my post hehe seems like you didnt
If this is true then they arenāt doing it well. I recall that you could add strangers as friends on the Wii U via Miiverse, and then video call them using Wii U Chat.

PS4 and Xbox donāt have text chat in game, so if Nintendo doesnāt have one out of game I doubt it will happen.
Ps4 and xbox doesnt have it in game because it is not needed. While on NSwitch it is needed for the best overwatch experience.
Why is that?
What makes the Switch different?
What makes it different is that ps4 has its own party outside of any games which means that you can group up with friends even tho they are in a match
That is just for Nintendos own games cause they are aimed at childrenā¦
Other games like Fortnite, Overwatch etc you can just plug your headset into the console for voice chat.
On the nintendo switch you cant invite your friends if you are not playing the same game at the moment and even if you are playing the same game as your friends on nintendo switch you will 90% of the time not be ablr to invite them and you will get the message ācannot invite player that currently is playing competitive matchā or you will get āplayer already in groupā and they wont be notified that i tried to invite them hence there is no way for them to know that i tried to invite them and that i might want to join them, so there is no way for them to know that they should invite me for the next game.
I dont know how i could be more clear about the problem than i have already been.
As i said i know that when you get in hroup with someone it is super easy to communicate - just connect a headset. THE PROBLEM however is that 90% of the time u wont get into the group because of the reason above.
On ps4 and xbox you can text chat them from the operating system āhey wanna play?ā
But on nintendo you cant, but there is ways for blizzard to atleast solve this INGAME for THEIR game to make the experience better for us players. (So dont come and say āits nintendos faultā cuz we already know that, but as i said blizzard could compensate for this ingame, i mean why not?).
