We need a real server selection

For me, the server selection is needed because of several reasons.
First, I’m from Southeast Asia, and I think people play overwatch less than the other servers. We spent a long time searching for a room to play in. Second, I played OW2 with my friends from different countries and ended up with a 270ms delay for my side and a 40ms delay from my friends’ side. We want to select a fair server between my friends and me to get a balanced delay from the two sides (or more than that). What do you guys think? Shout out to the developers also.

There are few points worth considering

  • if they allow people to select their own servers, the dead servers will be even more dead, because a chunk of the natural population of those dead servers will migrate to the more populated ones.
  • if they allow people to pick servers, they should put a limit. It’s not healthy for the match quality to have players with 200+ ping.

Finally, the ultimate solution to your problem (and to most other problems) is to ask Blizzard to make Overwatch a better game, popular everywhere, including your region.

I think no one wants to choose the server that increases their delays; it’s not good for the match quality, I know that. But in rare cases, I need to play with my friends from different regions (for example, I am in the EU, and my friends are in Asia). The game automatically selects the Asia server, resulting in 200+ ping for me and 40ms ping for my friends. That is annoying, especially for me.

If I could select the server, I would select the server in between that gives us about 100ms, which was fair for me and my friends. We usually do that in Apex or MR.

Cant u select a server in the batlenet app?

I tried it. Selecting the server in the battlenet doesn’t help. The game will change the server automatically when the games are found.

wat can i say?except: rip

You have to use vpn to get different servers.

For real. I’d stick to NA servers.

I’m not ever playing in a server from Asia or South America or Australia because I’d rather not have 3000 ping. Thanks.

I literally leave when I get one of those.

let ded servers be ded. because nobody needs to sit there and play outside of their latency range in matches that are toss-away matches for 100ms latency gameplay.

Leavers penalties exist. so we just have to waste time in a match being completely useless because some region doesn’t have enough players in it.

I play on South east asia too, on rolequeue quickplay sometime I have to wait for more than 5 minutes for find a game.

Like there’s less than 10 people looking for a game. This is madness

Or the tank leave and sometime we have to play without a Tank for ~2 minutes.

If you play with friends from different regions, I swear that playing with at least 100ms is still acceptable compared to letting someone play with 270ms. My friends also admitted that. But now, unfortunately, we have no choices. Sad

No, it just lets you select from one of 3 regions. But even then you might get ping ponged to a server in a different region.

My region is “Americas” in battlenet. But that’s basically the entire western hemisphere. I’d like specifically to always use Ord1 or if they ever bring it back the Northern Virginia server.

I do the same now…however after latest patch, it has routed us to middle east servers.
Does it do to you too?

mina overwatch server selector.
