Did a poll of heros who need nerfs reworks and buffs.
Mercy unananomiously was most voted as the hero to be nerfed or reworked by the forum community to improve Overeatch 2 as a whole.
While Doomfist and Lucio won for most needed hero for buffs.
I found the results interesting and never put up my own votes for these heros.
I really do think that for Overwatch to thrive again we need to tone down all the healing elements. Which starts with their baseline support hero Mercy whom every support hero is inspired from.
Link to poll? We need to compare the sample size to other metrics. This poll also guarantees voter uniqueness, right? Wouldn’t be good if the same person can vote multiple times.
I honestly think the Rez needs to go or needs to be reworked significantly (like preventing rez if she takes DMG or something) to prevent these super cheesy mid-fight rezzes.
Also the current self heal mechanic where Mercy heals herself when she heals whoever she’s pocketing also probably needs to be removed as well. Right now the problem is that if you shoot both Mercy and the pocketed enemy, neither will die since both of them are getting healed simultaneously. It feels like defeating Mercy or the pocketed enemy requires more coordination that actually playing Mercy (where you just pocket whoever).
FWIW, in Overbuff she has both one of the highest pick-, and winrates in public profiles; IIRC she’s around 2nd place on both across all ranks in competitive.
Oh it was a forum-driven poll. I thought you had at least thousands of votes across multiple demographics of the player base. I don’t know if I trust the echo chamber that are these forums.
Taking forum results when there’s a huge bandwagon isn’t going to tell you anything but what the current content creators and bandwagon in general wants tbh
I think that there is an issue whereby burst damage requires consistent or burst healing. Both aspects require nerfs, and many heroes need more interesting quirks to their abilities to make them feel more unique and engaging. It is a very nuanced conversation that wouldn’t be done justice here on the forums, and I also don’t have the drive to try
Yeah, for it to be a good poll it would at least need to be a real poll like a strawpoll. Preferably shared on multiple platforms, but even if it’s just the forums having a well constructed poll would be a start. This doesn’t even qualify as a poll IMO.
I would take your poll with a grain of salt. You are a notorious mercy hater, and you post tons of threads with reasons why you hate mercy. The poll was not professionally done, and just has a bandwagon of mercy haters in it. Stop treating it like you’re a professional….we all know you hate mercy, get over it
Look it was an open thread about nerfs, buffs, reworks, and whatever hero changes people wanted.
If you pay attention I never even put my own two cents in nor did I ever intend for it to turn into a Mercy hate post.
I was simply curious as to what hero changes people wanted and low and behold because apparantly a lot of people, yes forum users who are dedicated to the game enough to even post here, have expressed their issue with Mercy. All I did was tally them up.
So feel free to add your own thoughts there and I promose you I will count them as well. It was just an open thought thread to share opinions not some targeted campaign.
Some less than 30 nobodies with more than half of them known forum Mercy haters voted to nerf the hero they hate? An illustration to the book of theses “How NOT to balance your game”.
