And when I mean by single shotgun I mean their primary fire is a shotgun. Not two shotgun like pistols like Reaper and D.VA. Not anything like Ashe or Roadhog. An actual combat or pump shotgun. Why do we not have this hero in the base game in 2016? They’re one of the most important heroes to have. Bring us a real shotgun character.
Hog? 20 characters .,
duke nukem forever?
what irks me more is that reaper is supposed to be a shotgun character that’s played like how you would use shotguns in most other games, hence why his kit is like it is.
but they don’t make him effective enough against the majority of the cast at his effective range allthough that’s his only contribution to a fight.
reaper should have been one, but they never let him.
I want a character with a pump shotgun. That would be awesome
super shotgun from doom?
Can’t say I’ve played Doom. I was thinking about the pump shotgun fro GTA V…It’s so satisfying to use.
Like Reaper’s shotguns are cool, but they don’t feel like shotguns.
yeah it’s the reload and the heftiness of shotguns that doesn’t really shines through in reapers.
it’s not really the same, if it doesn’t go “Chuck Chuck BOOM!” is it really a shotgun?
Exactly!
to me shotguns have allways been the ideal close range weapon that should be the top dog in terms of single shot damage in close encounter, so much so that it should be scarier to face a shotgun at close distance than a sniper rifle.
Oh, absolutely. But they’re really not; not in Overwatch.
and it bothers me to no end.
i mean i played cs:go a little bit with my buddies today and i was reminded of the glory of what shotguns actually do.
i have become proficient enough that i can more or less snipe people with a shotgun in that game from ranges that seems ridiculous in comparison to what they are in overwatch.
i just want reaper to be like a power fantasy of shotguns.
i mean he does have a way to get from cover to cover without actually notifying enemies or showing his pathing, it’s just bizarre how much spread he has that he was forced to get a lifesteal rework and a slew of “quality of life buffs” in order to function, when all they needed to do was fix the damn spread.
Reaper, literally wields a sawed off in each hand.
could have fooled me.

Take a look Hellfire Shotguns. They are sawed off Over Under shotguns, instead of side by side.
don’t feel like shotguns to me, do they feel like shotguns to you?
A two-shot, two-ammo, pump shotgun with recoil bit high damage, fitting onto a character with a sprint like Soldier and maybe a slide ability that serves as mobility and an ammo reload like McCree. I could see it just because of variety sake.
What would also be interesting is a hero in the support category getting a shotgun type heal weapon.
This… his gun plays just like a shotgun. Big damage close range, spread makes fall-off damage way less.
I don’t think he was really supposed to be “a shotgun character” in the traditional sense.
I think Blizzard realized that a hero with the ability to teleport behind you then escape having a close-range one shot would be quite frustrating.
I mean, look at Doomfist. Practically nobody likes his design and he doesn’t have a way of getting out of the fight.
Because people have complained over the years that Reaper is only viable “in your face” and the Game has strayed from that being viable, so they had to tighten the spread, increase the range, and nerf the damage.
no he was bad back then too, hence the lifesteal rework because he couldn’t duel other dps and he was average against tanks at best and they weren’t necessarily his primary target since all the characters dropped the same amount of health anyways.
so they made the only target big enough to fit his spread to be the only target he should be shooting at by giving him lifesteal, which ment a ton of unnecessary frustration for tanks and a playstyle that doesn’t revolve around actually doing shotgun maneuvers.
the odd part in all of this, the most powerful reaper has ever been was when he actually had complete random spread and the spread could sometimes randomly tighten enough that his range was good enough at his effective range where he would be able to actually play like a shotgun character and get a random positive result doing that.
