We deserve an upfront disclaimer for "limited" skins

Hi Activision
Can we get actual upfront disclaimers for skins like the ones that are tied to IRL events such as the OWL tickets and blizzcon tickets skins?
At least for me personally, it’s very frustrating to find out later that I bought something that I shouldn’t have rushed buying for it not being exclusive after all. There’s a lot of things that I wouldn’t have bought if they weren’t limited. The list seems to be getting bigger and bigger every year and that’s very frustrating, especially with the amount of support for blizz that I did through the events of the past two months. I feel very much backstabbed and it’s my fault, but please make the offers such as the ones I described more upfront regarding the exclusivity.

I dont think this disclaimer was ever added to begin with because they never thought they were going to put these skins up for sale ever again

side note, its a skin, you dont own it, it has 0 value outside of sentimental and how you personally feel about it

The disclaimer is that their availability is limited. Maybe stop buying them if you can’t handle these feelings.

Y’all are, quite frankly, disgusting with how much you care about “exclusivity”

Meanwhile, all these companies just smile and wave knowing how easy it is to grab y’alls money.

I like how you started typing less than 3 second after I clicked “post” lol. Explains that over 9000 post count I guess.
I don’t know how my post could have been friendlier than that, but people seem to be jumpy to responses that makes them appear like the grown ups in the room. It’s a video game forums after all. Not much surprise there.
Beside the fact that I did buy and now own certain rights to those skins, which what I was partially expecting, it’s worthy of pointing out that those skins’ values aren’t derived from how I or any person sees them but from how the community sees them, especially for how rare they are.
Not the biggest deal. Just picking my brains futher over the topic and your opinion, which doesn’t seem to go against mine much if any.

It’s implied in the part of the EULA that basically says they do whatever they want to do. They have no financial or legal reason to ever make binding claims about exclusivity and this goes both ways.

It has to be pointed out that it should be upfront if it was present to begin with. Not the biggest deal.
Maybe one day we’ll all be like you, ChiefWamBam, strong, independent and highly astute! Let me use your words… maybe ignore posts such as mine if they cause you those feelings. Lol

Dysvalence, no one said they’re legally obliged, it’s more about integrity. Keyword: upfront.

Hopefully one day you will be…

Until then, spend your money wisely!

Stop buying things that you only value if others don’t have them.

Solved.

Lmfaooo it’s only like $10 for a skin, it’s not that serious.

Hopefully one day you’ll have enough money to buy whatever you want and know that this is about morals more than about money. And take it easy. It’s just a post on a video game forum.
Krotoan, but why? Maybe stop defying people who calmly call for ethics to appear strong? It’s a topic about ethics and it has to be called out. Someone should do it!

There ain’t any ethics issues here, they told you up front it was a limited time offer. Where does that say never coming back?

“Limited” is commonly understood as “never coming back”, especially in intangibles.
Don’t take it personally by the way. I noticed you kinda were, but maybe you weren’t. idk

Maybe it’s just me, but I wouldn’t call an item exclusive when it is sold in unlimited quantities…even if it was only for a small window… :upside_down_face:

Now if they limited to the first 1000 purchases…then we’re talkin’…

No, nothing personal. I’ve just seen several people complaining about this stuff recently and it’s simply tiresome. It’s just such a non-issue.

Sushi, We have to apply the word “limited” for some meaning  people usually understand it’s the time window, which is the issue at hand.
ChiefWamBam, it does make people FOMO though, it’s an issue. You just don’t see it. Maybe biased not to see it? idk… maybe I’m assuming too much

Honestly the only reason why I can see people getting annoyed is if they paid more for a skin the first time it was released and didn’t think it was going to come back (so not Demon Sombra)…

But if you’re genuinely this upset about getting “backstabbed”, that’s on you. I realise not everyone is 18+ here on the Forums, but come on. It’s time to grow up if it makes you angry to see other people with the same skin as you.

Tbh, the All-Stars skins coming back doesn’t surprise me at all. If another All-Stars event adds more skins, why wouldn’t they include the previous ones? For these types of skins alone, it made perfect sense to me. It confused me as to why they didn’t do this from the start with them.

But I can admit, the same thing could be said of the blizzcon skins then (the specific event, and not just the same event, on a different year)

It’s about making me and who knows how many other people of all ages FOMO. It’s something that’s not ethical and I have to point it out. I don’t even wear those skins. It’s an issue outside the game

You called the thing exclusive, not me.

I was just pointing out something is not exclusive when it is sold in an unlimited quantity despite having a small window to buy it in…  :upside_down_face:

They said the Illidan and Tyrande ones won’t be coming back. They’re not able to offer them again, but yea they did with Sombra’s. That’s probably ok, but we are starting to need “upfront” disclaimers
Sushi, My bad. However my point still stands. Exclusive offer of limited skins. Whatever you wanna call it. You get the idea
