We as a community need to take responsibility for the fact that we are toxic to the Devs and each other

We are selfish, ill tempered, unempathetic, spiteful, ignorant, vulgar, rude, toxic and overall unhelpful.
There was a time when the game first came out where everyone was so hopeful and enthusiastic but it’s turned into a cesspool of hate and toxicity where we throw mud at not just our fellow players but the people who built the game.

We’ve turned into the Youtube comments section!

We have sabotaged our relationship with the Devs by making our voices a thick swamp of toxicity that the Devs very rightly have decided to not walk through.
what little constructive feedback we are able to give is drowned out by the hatred and the game is suffering because of it.

Really the bottom line here is that changing the community into a positive force for the game starts with us. We need to simply show more niceness to not just eachother but the Devs as well

  • To start things off I would like to send my deepest apologies to the overwatch team as well the people of this community because I was part of the problem here and I am going to try to put effort into being a better member of the community and to represent the comment Overwatch in a positive manner.

I don’t get paid to make the community or the game better, the devs do. Very well in some cases.

That’s like throwing trash around in a building and saying “I’m not the janitor, I shouldn’t have to pick up after myself.”

It doesn’t take much to just show a bit more niceness to people.

Devs don’t care about us. If you have 10 kids and only give one of them attention of course the rest of them will be screaming for SOMETHING, ANYTHING.

This is the devs fault. They control the game and have the powers to alter behavior in the game.

That is not true and is extremely ignorant to suggest that we harbour no responsibility in any of this.

We are the reason the community’s voice means nothing. We are polluting the forms with all this scapegoating. You know what. of course the Overwatch team has made mistakes it’s kinda thing we as humans are known for but we turn hostile, violent and toxic at every turn and that is not acceptable for us to be acting.

Nope. Devs are supposed to guide players and Blizzard just doesn’t. They don’t care unless you are on their pro team.

Not really, it’s the faceless people at the top and the shareholders of the company.

The guys smashing code on a keyboard has little to nothing to say about anything, more often than not it seems that they also have terrible work environments.

It never meant anything in the first place, it’s impossible for them to read a fraction of the suggestions that are spouted here, the only threads they might read are those that get some traction.

I made a post like this once. There was a similar reaction. Nobody wants to be told they’re at fault, especially when it’s true. There’s very little CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on these forums. Constructive criticism lends itself to discussion, which is what a forum is for. Whining and outrageous nonsense claims don’t. It’s the whining that’s most popular here. Remember you’re dealing with humans, forum people.
