Ok, good, let’s hope they stick the landing. There’s still a chance this 6V6 test could suck.
I will say this though, Tanks “not being tanky enough” was never the problem. 5V5 Tanks could lose a third of their health for all I care, the problem was they were too easily bullied.
Solo Tanks are giant screaming targets for both team to shoot bullets and slurs at. It sucks. Tanks aren’t weak, they are unfun. Every mistake you make is ridiculed or exploited. Blizzard keeps buffing a Tank’s strengths, which only further incentivises countering.
THAT is why 5V5 failed (among other things), because countering was too justifiable and Tanks were too susceptible to bullying.

I’m curious how they will handle heroes like Zarya. Would they just plainly revert her, keep her the same, or try something new? Etc. And there were situations where tanks were obliterated on OW1 against like Bastion comps or whatever when health was lower. So, I’m curious if they’ll try a hybrid version.
I think the safest bet is to just nuke the game all the way back to October 2020. All reworks and new heroes are gone, temporarily anyway.
Then once the foundation is set, they can add everything else later.
A lot of people don’t know what 6V6 was like or they’ve forgotten, so this test needs to be a damn good one. If this a complete failure, it’ll put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth and we might never get this chance again.

I wouldnt really describe it as “winning” - I get the impression from the blog post that their stance is more along the lines of “We are still focusing our efforts on 5v5, but we recognize that enough people want 6v6 that we’ll investigate ways to do it”
But we dont ahve enough information to really know what the long term plans or goals are. For example, if all they do is add an arcade mode for 2-2-2 and barely (if at all) change the balance, I would actually call that a loss, tbh.
I also dont think we should dismiss people who legitimately like 5v5. We may not share their opinion, but it’s still an opinion and they’re allowed to have it. I wont understand why they find it more fun, but they do.

we just gon get 6v6 with the same kaijus but now double
I do worry about that in the back of my mind, ngl. But I do think theyre smarter than that. I dont think they’d release a 6v6 mode with the 5v5 balancing.
That’s enough, for now. We just wanted some damn recognition.
I agree, the best case scenario is we have both at the same time.
Ah, the 5V5er is here. Well hopefully they won’t.
Well, they did make Mauga…
Mauga stocks are going up, since now there’s two enemies to AAARRRGRHEHHHRHH!!!1!1!! into.

Look at open q.it was the same problem same solution, halfassed mode to shut ppl up
Well, yeah.
If you have 1 super character and the game is balanced around that, then a mode that lets you have more than one super character is going to be crap.
Really pushing the boundaries of human innovation…
Im not a 5v5er always said 6v6 was better gameplaywise
Sorry to burst ur bubble cry more
They did actually make a balance change for OQ. I agree it wasnt nearly enough, but theyre very much in the spotlight on this one. I dont think they would spend multiple seasons optimizing the engine to support 6v6 only to do the absolute bare minimum and have everyone hate it. It would be a lose-lose – blizzard would catch flak for making a dishonest effort, and the players dont get anything close to what they asked for.

it wont with a brainless director that should be considered the wrost in the gaming industry…the damage aaron has done is permanent
In all fairness, he was never the lead balancing guy. And he inherited a sinking ship.

the game was in excellent shape till he had taken over which he causd the game to go down hill
I haven’t even read the nonsense the dev’s notes say, and I can already hear the ridiculous takes people start to echo here…
Call it whatever you want, dont really care that much.

Judging by the sounds of things it will be months before we get a QP:H of this. So I don’t know if any winning is happening yet.
long inb4 “you wasted your time on this when you could have been making PvE?!” comments or other “where is the actual content?” after it’s released to poor reception.
Not carrying bout blindspots in ur thinking is always a great choice
they didn’t say, “we are biased to 5v5 and won’t even try 6v6, screw you”
they said, “we are biased to 5v5 but are willing to prepare and test, the 6v6 in the most underwhelming and possibly in the least optimized way so that it doesn’t potentially outshine 5v5”
