This has been a problem since literally the start of the game. PLEASE LET US CLOSE WHISPERS.
I’m not sure exactly what kind of closing whispers you mean because there’s a few- I hope I can help with any of these solutions.
•if you want nobody to be able to whisper you ever, there is a setting in options under text chat, right where you can disable team and match chats. Set private message/whispers to off and that should do the trick!
•if you want a chat to be closed after you’ve unfriended someone but they are still managing to message you, block them and they will no longer be able to message you.
•if you temporarily want whispers to stop popping up in your chat box, the command /hidechat in game will get rid of the chat box.

So what you are saying is you want a way for 3 and 4 stacks to coordinate their throwing to hose over the rest of the team.
I thought it was super obvious, you get whispered once and whenever you change channels you’ve got an extra one to go through. You can close whispers in WoW, why not Overwatch. Unfortunately, none of those solutions provided are the answer to the problem, because Blizzard sucks and can’t implement a feature that’s been in other Blizzard games for decades.

Ohhh I see what you mean. I didn’t pick up on that because I don’t have enough friends to have that problem
