…or have I somehow accidentally enabled a setting I dont want?
When in spectator mode and while viewing one specific hero, while in 3rd person camera mode, the camera would remain ‘attached’ to the hero, but you could still freely move the camera around and look wherever you wanted as it stayed tethered to the hero.
Now the 3rd person it’s locked straight ahead, is there anyway I can change that?
you can do it on replays but yea i never spectate anyone. i have no friends i guess
maybe they did change something. i wish on replay mode you could zoom in and out tho in the third perspective. oh well, cant have everything.
i still think the replay is a bit better than marvel rivals. for some reason when i watch repalys in marvel rivals it stutters a bit, also you cant remove outlines yet as well

Are you talking about Brig? I was trying to look at her butt and it gave me the Chinese censorship.

Oh that’s what I mean…
I’m viewing a replay code, not spectating a live match.
I used to be able to free roam in 3rd person while the camera was still essentially tethered to the hero in choice, but now it’s not working.
Granted, this is the first time I’ve seen it. Might be a temporary bug that’ll correct itself once I view the next code… i’ll have to check
maybe you are the side view modes?
there are three. the default one where you cant turn the camera around and the other two which zooms in a little and puts the hero on the left or right of the screen? the side ones are locked in where you cant move the camera
How do I change this ‘side view’ mode, where are the buttons, etc?
well on keyboard if you push N it gives you all the options. dont know about controller tho
also C is the camer perspectives. for me its C and X on my keyboard
Ah okay I gotcha, yeah I’m pretty intimately familiar with all the settings as I record stuff almost daily using replay codes.
So unless this is a brand new option they recently introduced that I haven’t yet figured out how to disable, it’s a little frustrating to say the least.
Hoping it’s a temporary bug but I guess we’ll see. At any rate thanks for the help!
I looked it up on Reddit and a poster said that you cannot rotate the camera in 3rd person perspective when the settings/playback bar is up (Press N to open/close the bar).

I’m gonna restart and will give that a try, I’ll let you know, I could’ve sworn I was trying it with the settings bar down, but I’ll double check now.

Just tried it with the control bar down and still no dice.
At this point I can only surmise it’s a bug, or they’re testing out a 3rd person camera view, because it basically functions like Marvel Rivals’ 3rd person camera. I’m going to get a quick recording to post here and show.
Damn!
Must be a new playback bug then
yea i can tell you are on the side camera perspective where its locked. there is some button you push that will center you and then you can move the camera freely around.
there is that center perspective that is free then the two side (left and right) that are locked
dont know how to change that on your end… the keybinds i mean
I want to say you’re right, it seems like something simple I accidentally clicked. I’m gonna go back into the menus and mess around, I’ll reply back if I find anything.
EDIT: I’m confused though, because if this were just a setting, wouldn’t it reset after I restarted the game and or my PC? All the rest of the spectator settings do that, for instance.
I just triple checked all the settings and pressed damn near every key on my keyboard but no luck
Still though, I’m now more inclined to lean more towards a setting rather than a bug, but I’m still in the dark here
ahh dont have a clue. on my keyboard the keybindings are “C” and “X”
maybe try that if you have time but i think its different for some people. i changed the keybinds on the settings page i think…
the options page has them in the spectate tab. when you enter the game you hit escape for options and there is a keybinding tab. you can find what yours is on the spectate section
here is a video of me playing sombra messing with the camera angels

Yeah see this is exactly what I’m talking about (and this is cool!), you’re switching in and out of 3rd person and while in 3rd person, you’re rotating the camera as you please… that’s what I’m hoping they didn’t get rid of lol
EDIT 02/11/2025:
Sorry if this necros the thread, just wanted to say, they fixed this issue! Thanks blizz devs
