those were two separate things, they said the maps going to be a PVP map, AND that there is big surprise coming

No… it was not just a map.

If you noticed, Jeff referred to Havana as well as the surprise, and he mentioned that the surprise had been asked for by nobody.

No, he said there would be a new pvp surprise coming very soon to PTR. Go listen to it again. Twitch

I feel like Blizzcon will just have a hero reveal, a cinematic, and a lot of OWL thrown in our face as per usual

And maybe some Overwatch mobile crap that will give Blizz more controversy again

are you surprised that somebody would understand that as “upcoming PTR”?
i mean, its possible that “very soon” didnt mean “the upcoming PTR” but in that case, thats very shortsighted of jeff. which is still… annoying.

its not really misinterpreting as much as unprecise wording…
which is why people are asking for more concrete dates, more precise announcements. its annoying to always have to wonder “what exactly did he mean by that?”

No, it was quite precise. Nowhere at all did he say it would be out in the next upcoming PTR. That part was made up by a few members of the community. Any misunderstanding is on them.

If he meant the next PTR he would’ve specifically said the next PTR, and even then it’s not concrete because things don’t always go as planned and people should understand that.

precise would be “its coming soon, but not on the next PTR”.
he just said “very soon” and i think he also said “hold your eyes open in the next days” but i might remember that wrong.
he could also say “and its not just the new havana map”.

when you announce something is coming, but you know that something else is coming before that, you have to make that clear.
you have to try and dissolve misunderstandings before they happen.

Which is why he talked about the Havana map previously in the livestream, creating a very clear and precise distinction between that and the new “pvp surprise” :slight_smile:

in that case, you are right, its probably another thing.
and i myself also thought it would be something else regardless.
just saying i can totally see how people would interpret it that way,
especially if theyve only seen a part of the interview, or recaps.

basically, i wish theyd just stop with the whole “surprise” thing.
either say what its gonna be, or say nothing at all. that way, nobody gets confused.
