Was literally anyone asking for mei nerfs?

Fantastic, 10 extra damage on icicles. It changes nothing about her breakpoints, it’s a net nerf on a character that didn’t need it. Who even asked for this?

Did anyone whatsoever have a problem with the projectile size? We have mccree and soldier running around shooting pinpoint accurate mangoes at the speed of sound but mei’s icicle needs a projectile size nerf? Tracer, who was already the best DPS in the game, got multiple hard buffs once the dps passive, projectile size & HP changes came out and still hasn’t been touched.

This isn’t what mei needs. She needs a rework of the way her start up recovery works so that she can get a shot off without being headshot 4 consecutive times by a hitscan in the time it takes for a single icicle to reach them.

At the very least make the damage 87.5 so we can oneshot tracer again. Lord knows she needs hard nerfs anyway. Nobody wants to play into M1 bot mei’s but dumb changes like this just incentivise that awful playstyle.

She can headshot + bodyshot 250hp heroes now

She’s still going to lose out in a fire fight against even semi competent hitscan 9 times out of 10 with how slow her icicles are.

Her icicle is the fastest projectile in the game, it’s big af, and it travels in a straight line as well. Projectiles have no falloff compared to hitscans, so I am not sure about the 9/10 statement unless you are a complete pepega.

The dev notes presented it as a buff, and the devs also recently said they were going to decrease certain characters hit points (maybe mid season, we might see that change is my guess)

So based on that stuff, my guess is this is being done in anticipation of some hit point adjustments, because I agree it’s not making a lot of sense to me

Does this mean that you were the tenth Dentist calling for Mei nerfs?

Not at all. Mei is pretty much the only DPS which can headshot + bodyshot again. Ashe and Cass used to headshot + bodyshot kill. Now, they are guaranteed forced 3-4HKOs.

Ashe can 2HKO via HS on Mei or 4HKO bodyshot. A perfect 300hp breakpoint.
Cass can’t even 2HKO via double headshot against Mei.
This similar with many other heroes as well such as Junkrat, Pharah, Torbjorn, etc. which have powerful projectiles or hitscan.

Mei actually has a slight advantage over them now. If they are smart, they won’t allow more powercreep to affect breakpoints. Its still projectile and a slow fire rate, but with the hp advantage she has over other heroes she can better keep up with those heroes now and not get completely outclassed via range.

They simply out class her in total dmg output and consistency (hitscan) over her projectile, but she has advantage in TTK. Mei is pretty much a pick hero along the lines of Hanzo/Widow. Low DPS output, but high pick potential. Using slow to secure kills as a team. Using icicle to long range tap. Wall to isolate healing/dmg support from allies behind walled target.

I had so many Mei’s in my games. I think people like the change. It just takes a little more aim, lol.

headshot > 170 + 85 bodyshot = 255

Let’s say that if a casual playing Mei player had difficulty hitting Pharah/Echo/Mercy their job just got way much harder.

She isn’t supposed to compete with hitscans. She is supposed to make the already miserable tanking experience even more miserable.

Stop trying to turn semi-niche heroes into generalists. That’s how we ended up with the most annoying and braindead version of Sombra to date.

I’ve killed countless mei players because of the ice gun delay.

She loses hard to rapid fire weapons.

It literally takes one less icicle to kill squishies now and enabled the old Headshot-Body combo. All that for a literal 20% nerf to her projectile hitbox (Which is still bigger than pre-S9, btw)

It literally changes her break points on 250 health heroes that now she can 3 bodyshots or 1 headshot + 1 bodyshot now. It effectively restores her break points to most heroes back to season 8.

It’s almost hilarious that for 250 health, mei effectively has the same break points as hanzo with higher fire rate, faster and bigger projectile and no falloff and movement penalty.

I sure wasn’t asking for nerfs.

This is her biggest weakness they continue to ignore. In a M1 hose war she just loses. You HAVE to hit M2 headshots to be a threat and by the time the first one comes out you’re probably half dead.

I see her change as a huge buff wdym

Because you’re still going to lose in a duel against most other dps due to the slow nature of her gun.

Not unless you use ur abilities

Gotta be more specific when you say duels. Against who? What range?
