If someone gets disconnected from a match, for whatever reason.
Make it so that if they Rejoin the game:
Win or Draw, they get 0SR. No SR gained or lost.
Lose or don’t Rejoin, they get -50SR.
This wouldn’t fix all the leaver situations, but the vast majority would have a teammate that rejoins, has something to fight for, and will do their best to win.
Currently there’s zero incentive to rejoin if your internet connection glitches out. It’s an automatic -50SR, even if you instantly rejoin, and win.

With Blizzard’s extremely fragile server connections with one ping-spike being a roulette to see whether or not you get to stay in the game, I’d have to object.

I seem to recall them saying that they cant detect if the leave is intentional or not.
Meaning they cant detect if it’s a internet connection issue or just toxic players.
If the latter then yes.
If the former, then they’ll anger up the playerbase even more…

This is an improvement from the status quo.
Currently if you get disconnected for even 10 seconds and rejoin, it’s an automatic -50SR, regardless of what you do.

Why would the distinction matter?

Because you’ll be handing out penalties to those who may not even deserve it. That’s how some will perceive it, i guess.

That’s what they do now.

With what I’m proposing, this -50SR would be cancelled if you win.

True. I didnt even think about that…

I do think the punishment should be taken away.
I know that I love it when people rejoin, even though they are still losign even if we win

Well, this is kind of a middle ground.
You won’t gain SR for winning.
But you won’t lose -50SR for winning.
This prevents it from being abused.

I would rather have it on a time-based system, if that makes sense.
maybe -3 SR per minute from the total change of SR, -50 SR if no reconnect
Just me throwing up numbers, not really sure how SR works for leavers lol

I have literally NEVER been disconnected from Overwatch.
Edit: Apparently I was not clear enough. My point is, Blizzard’s servers are not to blame if you are frequently disconnected.

Why not just have 5 SR for winning?
And then you just lose how ever much SR you would have lost to begin with?

It happened to me a couple times a week when I had a modem/router with a Puma 6 Intel Chipset.
A Netgear C6300 to be specific.
I have since upgraded.
Their internet bugs they drop connection but rejoin, mvps the game. 0 SR. 0/10 worst idea.

You do realize currently the same thing happens, but it’s -50SR. Right?

Ummmm no? Since when? I haven’t received a negative sr when my internet died but I rejoined and won? Since when?

You always lose 50 sr when you leave a match for any reason.
it’s always been that way.

Since always.
For me,
It got pretty frustrating to lose 100SR after 2 random disconnects, back to back.
