I have been trying to learn baptiste lately cuz i find him quite fun. Wanted to learn a support hero but i struggle a bit with how his kit works. How he heals and such. Always trying to position myself well and such but i wouldnt mind some tips and tricks
The most important tip is to not play him outside of bunker with bastion imo.
He’s fun but man he feels really underwhelming outside of this comp.
That being said for general tips, I’d say :
Stay a few meters behind your tanks and if it gets too hot don’t forget to use your exoboots to gain highground.
Your grenades get more value if your team is packed.
Hide your lamp (immortality field) behind corners when you can and don’t waste it too much.
You can click both buttons at once and fire both part of your gun, it’s not always useful but can be if you need to heal and dps at the same time when they push your bunker.
Learning the arc of your grenades is super important, sometimes you’ll need to hit long shots.
For more you should probably watch a guide on youtube.
Hope it helped and good luck learning him.
I’d say you need to take highground all the time.
Healling nades and Immoratality field have the same arc. Use it to preaim the field.
His ult charges fast and isn’t too powerful. Use it preety much off cooldown.
You can fire your grenades upwards. After some seconds, they will land on your position.
This is useful if you foresee an enemy push.
He has a couple of different play styles, personally I prefer to play in the back on high ground to stay out of LOS for EMP (or any ult) and save my team with Immortality Field and use Amplification Matrix on myself. You can play him in the middle of your team as well for faster healing and shield break, but it feels like playing a worse Moira to me.
Agree he feels underwhelming on other comps but to me hes alot of fun to play. I usually dont play support, i play tanks mostly and want to learn a support character to baptiste is the way to go
My biggest struggle with him personally is that my tanks and DPS don’t realize that Baptiste needs peeling just like the other supports. When I don’t get it, I’m often forced to use IF just to save myself, so make sure your tanks know you need protection.
Also, I find that I do my best healing in deathball formations. Tight maps like King’s Row that encourage your team to stay close together are great for him.
Use Regen preemptively. Like right before you know a fight is going to start, and hopefully before your team splits up. The Regen lasts a flat amount of time regardless of how much health everyone’s already at. That way it heals any early chip damage, and you don’t have to worry about the animation delaying your right clicks. Combine those two, and you build up so much ult. I usually have it every other fight to start.
I’m just in silver/gold but I’ve played him a lot. The most important thing is to get value from his abilities. So only use them when you need to. It is very easy to panic and use the immortality field as soon as it is off cool down but I find it is worth keeping it and saving it for an emergency, that way you you kno you’ve got it. If you use it immediately it probably won’t get maximum value.
Secondly cus I treat his immortality field like an ult, I consider his ult more like a normal ability on a long cool down. So use his ult whenever you feel it will get value.
Finally regarding his regen, mostly use that for yourself and heal teammates with your grenades. If you can do both then that is ideal but again don’t waste it too often if you are on full health. Grenades do the job.
Use rocket boots to escape in an emergency and to take high ground. Also as others have said, stay at the back and heal the tanks. Basically, that is it I think. Hope this helps.
This might be useless but Iplay him like how i see good widows play.
Never in the same spot for more than 5 seconds, constantly bouncing around never being caught by enemy molestors. I’ve had Doomfists yell at me because I’m slippery lol
My team and I hardly die.
Watch KarQ’s video and ML7 playing him.
It’s really important to stay behind people.
If they are together, better. Aim at the floor so the grenade explodes and heals everyone.
Save immortality field for extreme situations, don’t waste it if just one character is going to die and the situation is controlled.
If there is nothing to heal, shot your gun. It does quite damage.
For the slow area heal, use it wisely. I used to use it all the time creating overhealing. If you can heal people with the grenades, don’t use it and save it, especially because you can’t heal yourself with the grenades. If everybody is receiving damage and you need to heal faster, then use it.
As Sit said, it’s really important to learn the arc of the grenades so you can land shorter o longer shots. It’s also important to learn how to throw the immortality field. Sometimes you have to throw it from afar when approaching your teammates who are already in the payload or point and you just respawned. In maps such as Eichenwalde, I throw the immortality field in the air so it lands on the point A if I’m running there from respawning and my team is in trouble holding the point.
Tbh I find him really easy to play, he’s a good healer, especially in goats.
really useful dude. thx for the tip
His healing kinda sucks. I find I can never dps with him because I’m constantly healing.
You need ur team to stay together to get the most from his healing grenades.
When the everyone seems to be losing too much health or going critical you need to use the burst.
Immortality field replenishes faster than you think but be sensible using it… are the enemy team going to make a huge push. Hold it… can you save a vital member of the team using it … use it.
His gun just is… I can’t stand it but surprisingly powerful. His ult is good but you need to use it with someone else like Orisa or soldier or if your at a good angle use it for yourself and spam the heal grenades.
What else… you will not be able to escape anyone with that jump and it will
Make u an easy target to be killed… avoid. I’d use it if your team are scattered a little bit but you can normally just angle a grenade
That’s pretty unfortunate because he probably needs some of the most peeling out of any hero.
I completely agree. People think that just because he’s a big tough guy with a gun ripped from gears of war he can take care of himself. He really can’t!
