You know I like all characters, I like to play all roles. And I dont want to decide before each round what I want to play. And I dont want the hassle of classic queue.
I want a flex mode that is truly flex, not 90% tank and 9% heal. The queue should either 33% of each role, or according to characters (~50%dps, 25% tank, heal). I estimate queue times would be about a minute for this one. Or make it two, I dont care.
They could just name old flex mode “fill in” and this new mode “flex”.
e: obviously I’m speaking of qp. In ranked open queue works much better than in qp because there’s just people motivated to win. In qp there’s just role queue, tank queue (a.k.a. flex) or absolute mayhem (classic arcade).

Na, the average Overwatch forum user would have nothing constructive to say but use every chance to spew negativity because they’re so bitter about their life.

i agree that this would be an awesome solution to the role queue flex issue (flex = tank too much)
if flex gave tank often (but not 9/10 times) and frequently still gave DPS, then more people would flex. plain and simple, & that would cause a cascading effect that would improve queue times for everyone

Sadly your Math doesn’t add up.
Most people want to play DPS and nothing else. If you now add a Q where it gives you as many DPS Games as it gives you Support and Tank Games combined you can never reach a one or 2 Minute Q Time.
Thats pretty much proven by the flex Q we have rn. Its really really rare to get a DPS Game (even in a 3 stack qith one guaranteed Support and one guaranteed Tank). I believe I had like 6 games or something since Flex Q got introduced except for that one day when 3s Boosters D.Va went live.
I don’t see this working due to how long DPS queue times are, you would basically have to cut in line in front of everyone else in order to truly have a 33% chance of getting DPS.
Flex queue is already what youre describing. The problem is there is a disproportionate amount of people wanting to play DPS and Support and since you picked Flex, you get tank.
It wants to make the best queue times for everyone and putting flex players on tank (since they obv dont mind) is the best way to do that.
I must of struck a nerve, it’s a common joke that people don’t make up their minds on this website. No need to immediately jump to talking about life’s and stuff lol

It might be cool to at least have a random character option within each role, and/or a random character from within a range that you can choose from.
If you end up playing one Support and one Tank match for every DPS match, you are contributing enough to justify this imo
q time exist because of existing option to choose what to play. What op says is that they will opt-out factor of choice. You press the play button and you get 1 game for tank, 1 game as DPS, and 1 game as support. Then rinse and repeat.
Funny, I almost exclusively queue flex when not playing in a group; but I get support much more often than tank. 3 to 1 or thereabouts.
Sadly, this can’t exist with the current queue system. True flex players will quickly shift to the new queue, and exaggerate the DPS queue problem in the existing queue
Interesting idea though

would this actually count as flex queue though? like yes you get an equal chance to play all roles but once you are in a match you are locked into 1 role meaning you cant actually flex and swap to another role the team needs.
This sounds more like RQ roulette.
