Wait so... Echo is no longer meta?

I’m so confused about the game’s current Meta. I know that it’s Rein/Zarya (What a surprise!) but for the rest, I have no clues.

I know that she used to be meta at some point, is that still the case ?

No more Sigma = No more laser Dive to kill Sigma

She’s still strong but yeah she isn’t meta anymore

She’s a troll pick in any team comp that isn’t poke with Mercy Zen

Doom goes up though whos needed to stun Sigma out of Grasp and ult.

Meta is

  • Reinhardt/Winsotn
  • Zarya
  • McCree
  • Mei/Doom
  • Bap
  • Lucio

You’re telling me that…
MEI IS META ?

My god, what the hell has happened while I was gone

Winston for double bubble maps

Mei has always been a sleeper and synergizes really well with rush, speed, and brawly frontlines

Not super meta, and she can get subbed out for doom in hanzo in GM, but she is definitely sleeper. She has around 60% win rate along with doom and in tournaments/contenders she is mirror picked on some maps

I think once OWL begins next month mei is meta and it will trickle into ladder (it kind of is already)

I swear that’s crazy to hear. A few weeks back, everyone would say that Mei is absolute garbage.

Same for Doomfist, everyone was saying he was literal trash. That’s just really weird to hear “Mei is meta” again. Been over a year since last I’ve heard these words

I think winston is going to fall off, his winrates are not matching up to reins at all.

It’s easy to look at a low pick rate hero and think they are underperforming. The reality is, doom and mei both are just really good in rush and medicore to bad every where else.

She still is garbage. Meta changed a little bit and she sees some play because of Lucio speed boost. She was 1 week ago like 3rd-4th worst character in the game.
The problems with her is that the latest “compensation” buffs weren’t enough to make her worth picking over hitscans / flankers / Hanzo… she still has poor CC combined with big delay on secondary and wall on 2 additional seconds.

Nothing crazy. The forum has always called this hero that hero garbage/broken and then suddenly a shift in power from other heroes will catapult them to Meta status.

Not that the majority even plays Metas anyway.

As long as mei has wall, she will be played in hold w comps.

Until they find something better, which is turning out to be doomfist, again. I am getting deja vu.

Mei being meta doesn’t mean that she’s, like, “good.” It mostly just means that, in high synergy gameplay, they can make up for her weaknesses and emphasize her strengths to make her work. Heroes shouldn’t require a high level of professional gameplay and teamwork to be viable, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they still nerf her in some way because of it.

Should preface this but there’s slight regional differences.

There’s more D.Va Rein comps in high tiers over in America (To eat blizzard, her mobility and stall potential) while in Korean regions there’s double bubble and Ball Zarya more.

Rein Zarya is a definite ladder comp, you don’t see it in contenders as much (unless it’s on like kings row) and OWL hasn’t started up yet. So we have to wait to see if they’ll run it by then or if it’ll change again.

only because of mcree existing

I think KR sticks to sombra dive more but I though dva was also used more in KR than NA.

Probably a little more D.Va in Korea. I wouldn’t be surprised with that. D.Va is a prime Sombra spy checker after all.

You see the odd Echo Sombra dive comp, but that’s more on escort maps and not always a go to comp.

But when the dps goes Mei McCree, comps get really defensive. It’s why Mercy has dropped off a little.
