What key do you guys use for push to talk? I put it on a mouse button but I find it requires me to slightly adjust my grip while playing (which is difficult while aiming and makes the other mouse button and scroll wheel impossible to use) and that the whole process still requires too much attention.
I’d use open mic but people complain about the keyboard sounds and I’m a toxic person who yells and swears whenever I experience simulated death - preferably I’d be muted for that.
My solution was to use a mouse macro to toggle between open mic and muted. Unfortunately this behaviour isn’t supported by Razer, but I got pretty close with a macro that spams `` (the push to talk key) / does nothing on a toggle. However speed at which ` is pressed sometimes slows down, making me sound like a robot. Comms get missed or garbled and I don’t know about it.
If you thought that was of questionable legality, I recently found out that Razer Synapse (the mouses keybind software) can be used to launch AutoHotkey scripts which could what I want perfectly. But this would certainly be flagged as cheating and I’d cop a perma ban?
TL;DR do you have any better ideas for push to talk that don’t effect your play?

How are you holding your mouse that a side button is so inconvenient?
I always set my keys to the old call of duty modren warfare set up because thats what I grew up on.
Push to talk: Z
Crouch: C
Melee: E
Prime ability: 1 or shift or middle mouse button
Second ability: 2 or middle mouse button
Ultimate: 4 (Send in the air strike and helicoptor lol)
Emote wheel: V
The abilities change depending on what they are. Shields and specials tend to be 1 or 2. Movement abilities are always on shift. Abilities that act like frag grenades such as Ashe dynamite or junk mine are set as middle mouse.
I use the default ‘ but it’s not too convenient because it is hard to move and aim when I do it. I tried putting it on my mouse once but I kept hitting it on accident when I melee because my melee button is on my mouse as well.
If you feel like getting a new mouse, I can’t recommend the G502 enough. It’s got 3 easily distinguishable thumb buttons, which I’ve currently got mapped to Comms, E, and Ult. Then it’s got 2 buttons right next to LMB, which I’ve got set to Melee and Use Teleporter.
The default tilde key works fine for me

Finger tip grip with my wrist planted. To reach the front mouse button (Deathadder) I have to move forward into a palm grip which really reduces how much I can pivot at the wrist, especially to the right.
Push to talk: Z
You a literally losing one of your WASD fingers to talk. Doesn’t that get you killed a lot?
default tilde key
You’re losing your entire left hand. Do you only use comms between fights?
