Voice chat not working?!

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a good day

Some info:

  • My mic works fine in any other programme (like Discord)
  • I use push to talk (but neither “push to talk” nor “open voice” works)
  • Already uninstalled and reinstalled Overwatch
  • In settings: checked if maybe OW used the wrong headset/audio input [at Playback Device], but I set it to Turtle Beach P11 (my headset) from default, and the problems still persist. Nothing changed.
  • In settings: Rebinding the “push to talk” key does not work
  • In settings: Put ‘Voice chat devices’ on default devices (which should work) and comm devices, neither work
  • Problems started occuring since 2 weeks if I had to guess, with no particular reason why.
  • The same problem persists for all sorts of voice chats (group, team… etc)
  • I can hear others in voice chat and I can hear the game sounds just fine

Description: For some reason, my in-game voice chat is not working. It is very peculiar though, as I can hear that ‘clicking/peeping’ sound when one presses their button for voice chat. I also hear the ‘peep’ when I let go of the “push to talk” button (the two sounds are very similar and very short)
However: I dont see my name on the top left, I cant talk (it doesnt pick it up), but, again, it still seems to make that sound/peep as though I ‘should be able to’.
Very rarely does it work , and then only for a few seconds, and then it stops working very quickly. Usually that happens at the beginning of the game. However: usually it does not work.

Any suggestions? What is the problem here?

Thnx

Hi! :slightly_smiling_face:
Read through this article if you haven’t done so already.

Are you on a school network?

Nope! Just at home.

The game sometimes (but not often) crashes as well, but I doubt that has something to do with it (the crashing started before that)

Have you tried using a different DNS server. Try googles. Its completely free. I had issues with my chat and changed my DNS to googles and it fixed it instantly

I got it to work through some basic troubleshooting! (Problem was either that microsoft didnt have my mic as default (even though its the only one lol) or that ‘exclusive mode’ was enabled)
Thanks for your replies
