Voice chat quality is GREATLY less and everyone sounds awful. Both sides of my last ranked game were having this issue so it is NOT just me. It is a SERVER issue. Just reporting so you guys know… its really irritating

Something is definitely wrong with voice in general. When I logged on, I had to reduce the voicechat audio by about 25 points because everyone in my team was incredibly loud (and I’m playing with the same people as always so nothing changed there).
However, the quality is bad too, as OP says. Some people sounded like they were basically holding their microphone against their lips (and again, we checked - no one did anything out of the ordinary), lots of very painful crackling sounds (I actually had to stop playing it was so bad).
But the in-game audio seems weird, too. Ultimate voicelines are not heard, a friend of mine said they didn’t hear the “Overtime” voice signal.
Don’t know what went wrong with the patch but it seems something did, haha.

i cant hear people talk in voice chat anymore. not in group or team

I can’t even log in. It just says “Game server connection failed…retrying” over and over. Hearthstone works though, so maybe something’s going on w/ the servers in general.

same, but if i talk they can hear me. i can see their voicechat pop up in the top left corner but cant hear them. ive literally checked every setting i could, and it still wont fix.

Hey im having this issue where I can hear everyone om my TV instead if my headset nothing is wrong with headset nor ps4 setting,is this a bug?
I have the exact same problem as X1Frosty1x.
I’m on PS4, using original PS4 earpiece in one ear, plugged into my controller. System has always been configured so game audio is delivered in full surround through my living room 7.1 speakers, and voice chat gets delivered to me through my single earpiece (and not through surround system).
As of Winter Wonderland update, voice chat now ONLY gets delivered through surround system audio (no sound at all through earpiece), and my entire family (including young kids) now hear everything being said in voice chat as a result. That’s a problem.
Please fix and revert ASAP. This current audio delivery for voice chat is completely anti-family/anti-privacy. Not to mention the voice chat now gets totally lost amid the game sounds (previously it was on an isolated channel in my earpiece, and could be heard quite clearly and privately).

I also have problem with voice chat.
I could speak but I could not hear other players speak.
Tried to fix some settings in overwatch and in windows, that worked yesterday but not today. I’ve tried to change the settings again and I just can’t get it to work.
Please fix this!

Seems to be working again
I just stopped playing and there was definitely still a painful crackle audible when friends talked, especially when they talked loudly, as if the sound was boosted unnaturally high. The volume itself I had to bring back to what it was before the latest patch, though, so it seems something is changing maybe…?

That is exactly the issue I’m having. My friends and I all have high quality mics and any time anyone is loud it just crackles. Shouts or reactions are just a garbled high-pitch-crackled mess. We pretty much just stopped talking since we don’t want to blast each others ears off.
We can’t just lower the mic volume either since it still crackles at any high volume. I use Nvidia Broadcast and a HyperX Quadcast mic. Gain is set to the second/third dot. Lowering the gain makes me hard to hear, and if I talk loud the audio cracks.
Please revert the change. Anyone with a standalone mic is likely seeing this exact same issue.

I have the same issue, had to drop the volume from 80 to 35 just because the bad audio quality crackle hurts too much. Now I can barely hear voice, but at least my ears only bleed a little

Same, Its so frustrating trying to call flankers as a healer and everyone leave voice because your mic just comes out as a high pitch crackle.

this NEEDS to be put in the known bug list or acknowledged/fixed in some way. voice chat is AWFUL right now

This is still not fixed. The issue persists in OW and OW2 Beta.
