Visual clutter is out of control

Honestly the amount of visual clutter creeping into this game is insane i mean Rams ult comes with a seizure warning for gods sake.

Today i was playing a final point on Kings row when suddenly appeared 2 lifeweaver trees a ram ult a zen ult a mei blizzard 2 lifeweaver platforms a bap lamp a pharah ult & a ball minefield.

It was like i was tripping on acid i had no idea what was going on & no idea where my team was or where the enemy team were.

It’s getting out of control.

Yeah, visual vomit is pretty annoying. Sojourns orb is so difficult to tell where it is, but some how also clutters up my screen in the same way the “Low health” bleeding on the edge of your screen does.

The need to make these abilities simpler to tell apart from the environment with effects that don’t take up vertical space. The only reason you would need vertical queues is for the 2 flying heroes in the game which is so annoying

im glad they changed their mind about the illari ult blind. initially they were gonna have it flash the screen like a flash grenade on other fps’s

I heard about that . That would have been awful & really would have completed the OW 2 Transition.

Part of why they went to 5v5 btw

I watch Rapida a lot, and whenever there’s a slow motion edit in her videos, you can really see how cluttered the graphics are. One scene featured an Ana in the room with a Tracer who pulse bombed her, then recalled, while Ana got bubbled by her Zarya. The pulse bomb, recall, and bubble turned into a visual cacophony of throbbing circles, and I briefly lost track of where Ana was, even though she was nearly centered in the screen.

Overwatch 1 didnt even have half the amount of Visual poo that overwatch 2 now has.

Overwatch went 5v5 rôle queue because tanks & supports completely rendered the dps rôle obsolete.

Seriously go to 5v5 open queue & just run with 3 tanks with a lucio & a brig.

the worst is not that , it’s the flashy light and color on certain maps like junkertown , esperança and road 66 , i’m blind color and i’ve set the ennemies on yellow so good luck for me to aim proprely on that.

You’re right…cause it had more

2 extra people on the field…visual clutter was one of the most common complaints about the game (and the esport as well)…

I didn’t even mention RQ btw…I said PART of why they went to 5v5 was because of visual poo (as you put it)

It only really became a notable problem after Moira was released. Up til then it was mostly Zarya + shields causing it. But then all the sudden you have Ram, Soj, Kiriko all with crazy visuals (JQ also had her insane flashing nonsense that thankfully was fixed). OW2 is way worse

OK can you please post replay code for this?! I really want to hallucinate tonight!

Remember when they said “tanks are noisy” so we’re going to 5v5 to reduce visual clutter?

I actually feel that OW2 has worse visual clutter. It was one of the first things I noticed in beta, and I’ve commented on it several times in the forums. I know the plan was to reduce clutter, but it seems the VFX artists weren’t on the same page.

All the VFX were redone for OW2 and they now appear to have increased opacity and saturation, which only reduces visibility. Basically, they dialed up the magnitude of the effects to overcompensate for the lower quantity of effects. I can’t even see my own projectiles half the time.

Thats what happens when they apply the same contrast to everything. So when everything glows the same brightness you can’t see anything.

I’ve personally learned to see through it, so it doesn’t bother me. However there should just be personalized settings for this.

I used to play on totally low graphics but now I play maxed out on 1440p still doesn’t bug me.

Visual clutter has been out of control since OW2 launched. Their reaction to losing 2 people in each match was “we can increase effects for everyone now!” and it just made visual clutter worse than 12 person games. I remember in like season 2 I threw my bob off a cliff because visual clutter was so bad and completely covered the cliff side.

The reason it SEEMS worse now is that supports are OP and dragging out fights really long so ult charge is out of control. If you watch a game replay you’ll notice that team fights are VERY rarely won without ultimates going off. Same thing happened when brig launched. Brigs healing was so strong that we moved into a hanzo zarya meta cause their ult combo was the only way to win team fights. We’re almost at that point again cause supports are so ridiculously OP.

Lmao, the one thing I thought was legit improved in OW2 was the visual clutter. Seems like they are ruining even that. Oh well, follows the pattern I guess.

Do you remember the bug during the Wrath of the Bride event I think it was, if you turned up your contrast or something it was like a flashbang going off constantly. :joy:
