like this is a lot of stuff to be happening at one time for someone to try and stay focused in on one thing, focusing down a single target, especially when you’re trying to watch for certain cooldowns or visual queues and theres so much blocking your sight
https://imgur.com/fUXxJFB also heres brig dabbing because it was in the same SS and i noticed it in the replay and thought it was funny
I’ve never had my screen be TOO cluttered while playing overwatch. Even then with what’s going on in the SS. It’s just the D.va bomb taking up half the screen. And idek what that purple stuff is I’ve never even seen something like that.
I knew before clicking those links it would involve lasers, shields, and deployables everywhere. But I find all those “adds” to be part of the intensity/excitement.
If I wanted 0 things happening on my screen I’d go to Valorant.
I honestly do think this is one thing that makes playing the game more difficult, particularly for dps. People wonder why dps is so much more susceptible to tunnel vision than supports and tanks, and it’s because they have to watch for particular cooldowns before doing some things and to do that they have to filter some of this visual noise. It’s very easy to accidentally do too good a job of filtering that out and miss key things.
death dab from satan the third (after mei and moira ofc)
i didn’t say nothing at all, just less, smaller explosive visuals, moira doesn’t need such a huge beam in ult, sym wall doesn’t have to render across the entire map, like most mid tier PCs cant handle that, even i drop to 100FPS
its a big problem tbh just no ones talked about it before so idk how to introduce it as a problem without over dramatizing it
It’s not about casual friendly. It’s about abilities correctly conveying their danger level and danger zone.
The only thing worse than visual clutter is “wtf, I was out of that!” from misleading visuals. It can make things more difficult but the alternative is worse.
I wouldn’t mind a “Reduce visual effect opacity based on the total volume of existing visual effects” slider, but I don’t feel like visual clutter is generally a problem in Overwatch, even if I would like to be able to scale my UI down somewhat.
