Visual Clutter in OW2

the amount of Visual Clutter in this game is well out of hand. This was something brought up during beta as well as when OW2 was first showcased and noticed multiple creators mentions there is a lot of clutter on screen.
Hope the Dev team addresses this soon.

Yeah Idk how some people get head shots behind their whole team and never once see even a glimpse of the enemy.

It’s always nice playing against Echo when they sticky you preventing you from seeing what is going on on , that is top notch design.

Is there an option that can reduce particle effects? Because tree of life especially is a bit much imo

Visual clutter has been an issue since OW1. Players even mentioned issues with hit detection being practically invisible compared to the amount of visual information players bombarded with. And it just got worse over time.

It doesn’t help that all the new maps and existing maps now have a “sunset” theme on them which is color-blinding on top of that.

Doesn’t help that the pink guy puts out an equally pink tree of life and you think its your team’s.

And on a sunset map.

If they cared, they would have done something during beta 1. They don’t care.

It has been a problem since 2016. It is never going to get addressed.

You can’t fix it besides adding transparency to particles, or make maps larger people aren’t crowded and spam particles at you

do you play in low graphic settings? it really helps

Remember when they said removing the 2nd tank would reduce visual clutter and then they went ahead and added 5 new heroes that upped the visual clutter to ridiculous proportions? “Tanks are so noisy”. - Aaron.

wdym you don’t like when LW\sombra\kiri\zarya and mei ult together?

But yes, a visual effects transparency setting (like in warframe) would go a long way here.

We call it “the OW2 bits”.

A lot of people have asked for it to be removed so we can go back to OW1 and 6v6.

In fairness though many elements of the game are improved. It’s really the general sense of disappointment at where the game could have been taken given all the neat concepts, heros and backstory - had it been done justice.

I’d like to put it down to COVID times but it’s just part of the same trajectory the entire industry is on, swirling down the toilet, unable to really achieve greatness. And yes, that really got turbocharged after 2019. It was the beginning of the end.
