Video Settings on PS5 (Poorly Optimized?)

Can it really be that Overwatch can’t be played in 1440p at 120 fps? The ‘frame rate’ mode gives me 120 fps at 1080p which looks insanely bad and blurry on my 4K OLED TV. The ‘balanced’ mode feels like it’s running at 30-45 fps and it looks like 1440p. The ‘resolution’ mode looks crisp but runs at 30 fps. Is Overwatch really that poorly optimized for PS5?

It shouldn’t look blurry, if anything 1440p should look terrible on a 4k monitor/tv. 1080p fits better into 4k. This is because 4k is double the pixels of 1080p therefore it upscales better.

I think that’s only for the interface, but the actual game should run at 60FPS even in resolution mode.

Kinda?

It wasn’t really designed using the newer DLSS/FSR upscaling tech.

But what did you expect from a 4 year old budget PC with integrated graphics?

Are you on hdr? I hear the hdr is usually a lot of problems for most games

I do indeed use HDR. Might try to turn it off and see if it’s any better.

I’d say 2 years. only because a consale isn’t 1-1 with a PC. It’s a typo, but a good one, so it stays. lol.

But it is funny how people expect a console to be on par with something three times the price. But with cars, food or anything else, you know 3X price means a better product. Fanboyism runs so deep, its wild.

That’s correct, even the older Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 runs the game at 60 FPS. Overwatch 2 requires the consoles to push 60 FPS as a minimum.

Often at the cost of graphical settings, I don’t know exactly how it works on PlayStation 4 but the Xbox One for example uses dynamic resolution.

The HUD will always render in 4K on all platforms, and the menu’s and the hero selection screen will often just be 30 FPS. This is because the heroes display with more detail than in-game.

But yeah, the game will push for 60 FPS as a minimum in all platforms except the Nintendo Switch.

My PS5 sure runs it at graphic settings much higher than my PC’s 1060 can cope with T_T

I don’t think there’s any PC you can buy at the price point of a PS5 with the same performance level - at least not when you Factor in Windows cost and everything else…

The PS5 holds up amazingly well…

Only reason I sold mine was to try the steam deck OLED but it’s probably the best piece of hardware I’ve ever used in the price to performance sense!

It easily beat my gaming laptop which has a dedicated RTX graphics card mind you!

But you want to know the thing that impressed me most about the PS5?

It’s so amazingly quiet!

Hardly any fan noise!
