Video playback impossible while playing

Hello.

For the past days I have been experiencing my PC not being able to play Overwatch and playback video on: Youtube, netflix, HBO or VLC media player at the same time.
I have changed nothing, did no updates or deletion.
I have never had any problems running OBS, watching videos, or doing anything really.

My setup:
ASUS ROG Geforce 1070 strix
Intel i5 6600K
16GB Corsair CMK memory
Intel m.2 512GB (System)
Samsung EVO 850 250GB (Game drive)

This only happens when playing Overwatch and not while in other games.

Any ideas what to do other than:
Update all drivers
Run anti virus /anti malware
Run registry cleanup
Run system cleanup
Disable unwanted background apps
Disable startup apps
Double check all ingame settings

Just to clarify what happens.

When ever I start a game with more than 1 player model, my Youtube/HBO etc. goes bananas and end up stuck in loading.

At the same time, the game starts to get lag spikes. My mouse behaves weird and has low response rate.
Also I get spikes of FPS drops, from 170 FPS to 80 FPS

You have several versions of the Nvidia drivers installed. I’d remove with ddu and do a fresh install. Then, double check that your CPU is not overheating and functioning properly because there are several events logged from it. Finally, one of your windows services is crashing, so try to force a manual update or run the repair utility.

I have run DDU and uninstalled all. Reinstalled latest nVidia drivers.
My CPU is sitting at a constant of 58 celcius.
I am not sure what windows service you are talking about?

The problem still persist.

You’re going to need to look up what is causing those errors with your software.

Now I have taking it to the last step I could think of, and did a reinstall of windows.
I only have AVG, chrome, office and teamspeak installed.

Updated all drivers. The problem is not as severe now, but the video playback is still hanging every 10 seconds.

Go to your device manager, uninstall the drivers for realtek audio. Go to their website and get the latest version.

The driver on realtek’s own page is from june 2017. My installed driver is from may 2018.

I still don’t understand why this would have anything to do with the video lagging and the player buffering? The audio comes out just fine… It’s the video playback that does not work…

Bumping this because I still have the same problem…
Also want to note that Overwatch is the ONLY game doing this… Destiny 2, WoW, Planet Coaster and Diablo have no effect on media playback on my system.

I am having this same problem. Did you ever find a solution?

3 years later and this issue still dont have a solution. unlucky.

when I see the replays, I cannot switch to a personal perspective? Did anyone have this problem?

I started having this issue 3 days ago after overwatch crashed in a mysterious way and nvidia settings popped up out of nowhere and my graphics card then needed a firmware update to perform with my second monitor correctly again. it then had lag on my video playback whenever I played overwatch on the other screen. I found this toppic first, but the solution I got was one on reddit from someone having lag in overwatch while video playback on a second monitor. So here it is:

  • First install nvidiaProfileInspector, either a quick google will find you the link or click here: Releases · Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector · GitHub

  • Click on whatever the newest version is then download the .zip file by simply clicking on it.

  • After the .zip file is download, simply unzip it / drag the .exe file out of the .zip file onto your desktop or elsewhere.

  • Run nvidiaProfileInspector as administrator.

  • Go down to “5 - Common”, the setting your looking for is Multi-display/Mixed-GPU acceleration

  • Now for me it was set to “single display performance mode”, i changed it to “Multi display performance mode”

  • Click apply changes on the top right

  • Reboot pc, make sure changes stuck, and BAM!

  • Enjoy peace, serenity, zen, joy, the finer things in life now, you are finally free from that terrible problem.

hopefully if someone is having the issue and gets here will find a solution.
