Venture's footsteps are nonexistent

been noticing Venture has little to no footstep audio while running around, she just appears out of nowhere like a flanking zen or sigma

Same, I can never hear them! I’m even having trouble hearing where the shots are coming from.

For a character that can kill you near instantly she should be way louder. She can run up behind me or to the side of me and the first thing I hear is my death scream gurgling the sound of her abilities.

Considering the metal jet gauntlets on her legs one would think that she should be as loud as Reinhardt.

It also doesn’t help that the dig isn’t that loud, it should be as subtle as a jackhammer. So much damage should be offset by being tracked very easily.

Maybe the footsteps are muffled by the yelling?

I have big problems with the sound design of this game sometimes. It’s not just venture either, there are distant enemies that sound like they’re three inches from me, and close enemies that are making no sound whatsoever.

I can’t even blame my headset because I have a really nice one, and in other games I don’t get these issues.

Definitely her footsteps are light, I can only hear her digging. By the time you realize she is near you your already dead.

After how how many days of comp venture I think is by far the most broken dps. Her ults builds super fast, her ult can team wipe, her spam damage is high, she has 2 escapes (dash and dig), she can cc, and has a kill combo. The fact that this DEV team thought that she is balanced makes me think back to old Ram or mauga (mauga being the worst ever offender of being so stupidly broken).

If pharah is the only counter, I honestly dont want to play games full of venture and pharah because that sounds like hell.

Yeah, their footsteps and sound effects definitely need to be louder if they’re basically just a more mobile Reaper. I can be across the map and hear him with his goth platforms.

Footstep audio has been inconsistent across most of OW2; I think it’s been particularly bad since at least Season 9.

I don’t think Venture is the only hero who needs their footsteps and so forth looked at for sound volume.

The audio in this game is broken. Reaper doesnt make noise anymore, some ults are muted, some abilities you can barely hear, jq axe makes zero noise half the time. From what i can tell, it isnt a console exclusive thing either

Broken audio from characters are likely caused by convolution reverb, a feature added to OW2’s new engine:

This seems like one of those “selling point” of the label 2 in OW2 (not unlike PVE and new graphics engine), if they get rid of it it will be another feature reverted to OW1 and they can’t have that :slight_smile:
Sound issues i’ve encountered : my teammate lucio’s skates INSIDE MY HEAD despite him being half a map away from me, silent junkrat footsteps, silent pharah jetpack, silent enemy DVA ultimate (no voice lines no sound effect just a silent bomb)

I think they should add like a crunchy sound to her footsteps. Because she is all about digging so her shoes would get dirty. About the same as walking on gravel.
