Are they serious with not giving Venture an “E” ability… ?
This shouldn’t be a thing in 2024 Overwatch.
The hero is pretty bad and needs a range ability on M2, ASAP.
Their current M2 ability should be the “E” ability. Anyone agrees ?
As a side note, making so that enemies can see where Venture is underground completely counters any flank potential, though I understand that it should be this way, design wise, and why devs went for it.
I don’t think it’s bad that they lack an E. A bit surprising with how some OW2 heroes have had paragraphs worth of control schema (looking at you, launch Lifeweaver), but y’know, beauty in simplicity, and all that.
I like the dash on M2; I use M2 for Blink and Rejuv Dash, for instance. No E was really surprising to me, but they do have a whole suite of passives and lots of gap-closing.
not too much once you put dash on M2 so petal platform is on Lshift (like the updated control scheme), it’s tolerable I swear.
This makes Ventures the only hero with no “E” ability, right… ? I think they’ll tweak this in the future.
My favorite hero so far since his release :p… Lifeweaver is perfectly fine and represents what Overwatch is all about (at least how it used to be). I guess, it’s a matter of personal taste.
Yeah… This could be true but not when said hero can’t flank because enemies know where they are, underground, and not when their only primary fire has a really short range. It’s like Roadhog’s old version with no long range shot :p…
An improved melee damage, yeah… oh and I just noticed Venture has a temporary shield passive. This could help, true but I would rather have them have that shield as an actual ability on M2 or “E”. I guess it’s just me, then.
Lifeweaver’s kit makes sense since it’s all about mobility. I find Venture’s mobility to be quite bad as I thought they would move way faster undeground. It seems very slow and the fact that enemies can spot Venture is just plain bad. It reduces the hero’s tactical posssibilities.
I just got used to the base control scheme, the updated control scheme feels clunky imo weaver is already a massive tall target so having to jump to dash makes you easier to hit not to mention you can’t conserve your momentum and bhop after the dash when dash is on jump.
I used the updated scheme since it came out up until… a month or two ago because I finally got fed up of needing to jump to use Rejuv Dash. It’s a bummer that the original is objectively better, but it wasn’t too hard to make the swap back once I switched the binds for Dash and Petal Platform–when you do that, you just have to adjust to the weapon swap. Being able to dash out of Ram Vortex made the pain so worth it though
Bastion doesn’t have one either, IIRC. He used to have the self-heal, but that was moved to M2, and then replaced with the grenade.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Lifeweaver too, he just had a LOT going on at once - not from a “he’s OP and he can do everything” standpoint, but his kit just had so many things in it in general, some of it mapped very awkwardly control-wise.
You can dash underground to move faster, and it shortens the cooldown, if you time it right you can burrow, dash, charge jump out of the ground and then have dash ready again. To finish someone off or get more distance.
Every other flank style character (bar sombra) can be seen as well, they just use cover to mask their movement you can do the same with venture because of how small they are when burrowing, you can hide behind a lot of map geometry.
after using the updated one for so long, i tried using the legacy scheme with the exact keybinds your saying, and god it feels so unnatural having petal platform being right click LOL
Not me, realizing this right now in Practice Range … Good catch.
Yeah, I don’t really play Bastion. I thought secondary fire was on “E” (the grenade ability) but it’s actually on M2.
It’s just a matter of practice. He may never be OP but in the hands of a LW lover, he can carry the team by enabling a lot of good saves.
The only thing that can be annoying with LW is not being sure whether your healing or thorn ammos have been reloaded by using the other one. It can be random and ruin what you intended to do. Also, manually reloading doesn’t reload both “weapons”.
This may require some fixes in the future, I guess.
Thanks, I’ll go and check. I just discovered 30 minutes ago that the hero was actually available for a few days.
I had grip and petal swapped at one point but one too many accidental grips and I changed that right quick.
I have been alternating ventures bindings because they play like a Splatoon character and in splatoon the swim button is the secondary fire and that just feels more natural for me,
It feels like something is missing but at the same time it doesn’t feel that way.
I don’t know how to feel about it, perhaps the dash should be the E ability and the right click should be a secondary fire that either splits, bounces off walls, or is just simply bigger than the primary fire?
Won’t play Venture, though lol… I thought this news would help me get support easier to complete all roles weekly challenges, so I logged in, but I only got support twice. Playing tank is like getting plague (I’m so fed up with playing tank that I only play JQ as it makes it feel like playing DPS, when I randomly do get tank as a role xD).
Giving up for tonight.
That’s exactly what I recommend in the future. It feels bad when a DPS hero has only one primary fire.
