At this point, I’d put Venture just a tier below Sombra and Widowmaker on the Annoyance tierlist, because they’re like the lite version of DPS Doomfist except they’re actually fun to play as.
What sells most is that Venture is one of the few DPS that are actually quite sturdy and defensive, it’s hard to beat someone with a 4-second-invulnerability and constant extra health. She has the disruptive power of 0.5 Wrecking Balls and if things don’t go as planned, just dip and let the team do the rest. Once the time comes, just blow up the teamfight from underneath and possibly secure low HP supports.
Only thing Venture lacks is range, but there’s not much range in the dive meta, against which she’s surprisingly good! Do you seek a refreshing experience? Go venture forth.

I ususally ignore those coward snipers and instead use the burrow to stall the objective while also forcing people away from me. The fact that Venture can do more space than a Doomfist this way is both tragic and somewhat fun. Anyone unfortunate enough to not have 100 HP gets blown up real hard.
The key strengths are definitely stalling while invincible and faster coouldwon for drill while burrowed. If Venture ever gets a nerf, it’s gotta be these 2 things.
So the thing i think actually should get nerfed is the cooldown on melee after the drill, if you are smart take a shot drill then melee you wipe out 200hp and less, i use this on supports and damage a lot and the fact there is no after drill cd on the melee kinda feels dirty.
and i love snipers, they taste like chicken, and cant get me as i get right up under them and give them a drilling they will never forget
Venture players have some nerve calling other cowards. 90% of all Ventures I see scurry away like underground rats when they find out that the tasty Kiri or Juno wasn’t really defenseless after all. Seriously, they come in all up in my business making a whole bunch of loud annoying noises, but then they burrow away at first sign of trouble. It’s embarrassing for both me and you, Venture players. Stop it.
Venture I think is more tactical than most DPS players can handle. Venture doesn’t have as many instant kill methods or instant reversals.
Using swift strike, blink, recall, deflect, translocate, etc. are like all instant translational escapes. The ones Venture uses are much slower. Its possible to die more easily or be tracked.
Similar to the idea that since Venture doesn’t have that sort of high burst combo instant kill method that you can get due to headshots from things like Ashe, Widow, Tracer, Genji, etc. the hero isn’t as appealing to most.
It is a weakness, but Venture has tools to deal with it. For one, drill rush → burrow is a very hard approach to stop. Drill rush alone grants you vertical mobility and horizontal mobility. Burrow lets you refresh the drill rush cooldown for another approach or escape.
You can pretty much drill rush into the air slightly, then fall straight into burrow avoiding some of the slow down and always be moving. While in burrow you have 5.5m/s for 5seconds. Which is 27m worth of travel distance.
You can even out poke some of them due to the fixed explosion distance where you can AoE pressure some without being directly in LoS when the gap has been closed. Venture is just a tactical hero. Somewhat patient play with some poke mixed in with some bigger and committal bursts from time to time.
mechanics are fun, character - political agenda. Can not stand that appearance and voice. But mechanics are fun, oh well, never going to play that character.
Lol, I dunno, I’d still place Widow and Sombra on the griefing list among heroes. Venture is predictable when she pops up, so it’s no big deal dealing with her (wait, is she a he or a her? I sometimes have it mixed up. ). Maybe that’s why he’s/she’s a tier lower?
You know, thanks to many hours as Junk rat nading pharah out of the sky with more height, i am enjoying learning the same for Ven, bait her to fly, wait 2 burrow, pop up under her as she comes down, follow with drill rush Vertical and finish with a nade from above her. i am not great with it but have landed it a few dozen times now, they normally switch directly after

They’re similar to Sombra in that way (not forum Sombra) like you have to time your engages well with your team or you’re going to get crushed alone/waste cooldowns and be useless for the team fight in 5 seconds.
Honestly the range is what killed them for me. I was really hoping for another mei alternative just to mix it up a bit. But it feels so punishing knowing you’re 0.5 metres out of kill range but peeking is going to get you insta domed.
I had fun with her. Played her for the first time acty picking Venture for Deathmatch. Earned the spray when I drilled a fellow Venture off the map on Chateau.
With my BP, weekly, and event challenge on I’ve just been playing off meta heroes except for. I just play her for fun.
