Eh considering the 2d art is in a fundamentally different art style, It’s at the end of the day mostly just reference. That of other in game concerns regarding model clarity or poly counts are a thing.
more flowy hair that covers the face can mess with the visual clarity or require more resources to go into animating the hair.
The face is kind of a really resource intensive spot if your not like doing the MM legends thing and just painting it on.
You’re worried about the wrong thing. They don’t need a remodel, they do need to not have drill dash outright beaten by Doom punch, they should cancel each other out. If they’re willing to let Brig bash knock both down (don’t know if it still does but it did at some point), the same should happen for venture’s drill dash. It’s not like they get it every 4 seconds like his stupid overpowered ability.
I actually think, as a tangent, that the 3d design has a way less pronounced sillohette than the 2d one. You are right though that it is reference, but I can safely say I would have done it differently as a modeller (obvious not to that level of talent).
Of course I go heavily stylized anyway. I just think more cartoony is generally better.
Be it the reference edit above kind of blends the space between the face and shoulder a bit. Because of the puffy hair. Were as the offical model has a bit of better contrast between the head and neck line as the jacket is more visible.
But that is just kind of nit picking. Some hero skins do the same. Be it the base models usually avoid hair that sits around the sides of the shoulders. A lot of it is tide back or sit behind the back.
it might just be me but I still don’t see anything wrong? maybe the bridge of their nose might be the only real discrepancy between both models but I still think ventures design is really good and is a good start to including different hero body types that aren’t just Big Man, Man, Woman, and goonbait
As you can tell by their clearly intellectual takes, they are a member of high society. They’re not like us plebeians who go around providing things like “discussions” and “well-thought out opinions” (how truly repugnant!).
No, no, no. When you become a part of high society, you do not indulge in things that require thinking (how grotesque). You simply “get a hobby” like watching football or making a fool of yourself on an internet forum by spending your time telling people to get a hobby.
It reminds me of the dissonance between pre-releaase Junker Queen and post-release.
I don’t know if you saw or remember her initial introduction video but she was portayed as this tragic person, who’s kind and compassionate, but tough because of how she had to scrap for everything to survive. Someone who wanted to make a change in the unforgiving Junker Town. It made for an interesting hero and nice duality.
Post-release she’s just a loud, dumb and aggresive simpleton. They made her so one dimensional. The art and model reflect that too, like her eyes changed to be more predatory, when previously they were softer.
I honestly love Venture’s design! They give off that super dorky vibe, like yeah this character 100% looks like they’re gonna be obsessed with rocks or something.
Fully agree. I’m a 2D artist, and when I saw the 3D model of Venture I genuinely thought to myself “I would be so disappointed if my concept was translated into 3D in such a sloppy way”.
exactly… wtf not every hero needs to be waifu hot skin bait…i like Venture…Venture is unique in the game, cool character design, cool ability design, fun gameplay. i love Venture’s personality and voice acting too which is rare af for me cause i hate lifeweaver/illari and esp. kiriko’s voice lines and acting. ill repeat how much i hate kiriko’s personality and voice.
