Venture is visually unappealing

I actually find Venture kinda ugly. But, the gameplay is super fun. And I like their voice as well. I’m interested to learn more about their lore.

Every character is now Jason Momoa. Cassidy? Jason Momoa. Mauga? Jason Moma. Widowmaker? Believe it or not, Jason Momoa in a wig. You’re welcome

You’re cheating, that’s everybody’s preference.

It’s like Dwight’s wigs from that one Office episode.

I am not against this. April Fool’s is nigh, I am optimistic.

I am not entirely certain if you are trying to say that you are into animals, or if you believe Venture is an animal and you are against the tag. So confused…

Wow, a hero that stylistically matches the Overwatch Universe.

The HORROR!!!

:scream:

Derelict!!!

It’s hot right now.

I just wouldn’t poke the bait. No ‘winning’ with a ‘yikes’ like that.

I was just genuinely curious. It’s a bit disheartening to see, but what can you do?

You might not like the design but calling it mediocre and low effort is a massive stretch. Venture is absolutely dripping with personality. From the protective mining gear they wear fashioned as a cool outfit to their chipped teeth. A lot of people hate the teeth but for me personally it really ties their whole design together. We have a character who is super energetic acting first thinking of the consequences later, who dives underground, its like reins scar over his eye.

the design matches both the personality and gameplay and personally I think they nailed Venture and they look incredible.

I will say tho, I think the in game model needs some polishing, the hair and goggles look at bit unfinished to me as they are right now.

Yeah, I think that’s Venture’s charm. They make sense to me.

I love playing Zarya, but I HATED her skins for the longest time and rocked the good ol’ Summer Games skin for forever until that sweet AF Barbarian skin came out, and I think I have used it since then. That said, I did actually like Zarya’s base skin, so although it was not my style, it did not offend me as to turn me off from playing her.

Before I get to Venture, let’s consider the other OW2 hero releases, IMO, of course:

  • Junker Queen - Although punk aesthetic is not my preference, her style, lines and voice actress all fit perfectly with who we know her as from the lore. Plus, she is fun AF to play and got a sweet skin in the Battle for Olympia event season.
  • Kiriko - Her base skin is a little cutesy for me, but Matsuri and her first legendary (the Bladerunner-type android) were more than enough for me to get interested in playing her. Plus, her Mythic with its gorgeous effects is fantastic, and that is not mentioning the 9 trillion other skins that range from at least good to utterly fantastic.
  • Ramattra - What can I say, Ram’s design is so freaking good, and every skin he gets is just as good as his base skin if not even better. His voice actor, visual effects, voice lines and lore also feed that power fantasy of the unstoppable force of nature. Really job well done on Ram, and I cannot say enough positive about him.
  • Lifeweaver - I have said before that I do not like the Valorant art style, and LW reminds me more of Valorant than OW2. That said, he is visually striking and has some neat skins. His introduction was a hot freaking mess and kind of remains that way with how stacked his kit is compared to everyone else, but I think he can be fun to play in small doses.
  • Illari - I played the living hell out of Illari when she came out and then immediately dropped her when she was overnerfed into the ground in maybe 2 weeks after release. She is visually appealing to me, and I think she has some great skins, but her lore and personality seem to be lacking, Although I still think she is a mere shadow of her original intended design, she is at least fun to play after her QoL adjustments and buffs albeit very simple (Thanks, botched Lifeweaver release).
  • Mauga - I would have preferred Mauga’s OW1 style to the Moana style, but I do think the combination of the new art, new lore, voice actor and voice lines make it work, Again, the visuals do not keep me away.

And now for Venture, who looks like a sack of potatoes with dull colors and a portrait that does not even fit into the hero gallery, as if the portrait came from some other game. Venture’s movement-based kit looks right up my alley, but the visual design of the character immediately turns me off from playing the character. I would actually try Venture out if the character’s visual design looked even remotely like it belonged in OW2, so until that gets fixed, I am a hard pass.

Just honest feedback here, but I think you will find that most people want Ramattras, Kirikos or Space Rangers rather than Ventures when it comes to visual appeal and design.

Sounds like your ideal man is already here gestures towards wrecking ball

You must have never seen a child then, cause they most certainly don’t look like a child lmao

I agree, the original artwork actually looks neat but whoever translated it to 3D made it suck.

You’re saying that like there would never be anything more or less popular or more or less well liked. But we all know that isn’t true.

Whose idea was it to give the character chipped teeth? like it really needed that to be unique but just looks ugly

Venture should have been an Indiana Jones type look

Space Ranger is r34 bait in my opinion, but something in between utilitarian and pretty isn’t a bad thing in my opinion. Space ranger just looks like a Korean MMORPG Space game account.

She looks ugly as hell, but her voice lines are fine.

Gameplay wise I am interested to see how people will play it, once they get used to a new hero. At first impression her kit looks cool.

You already got ‘better’, you just said you liked Mauga. That design appealed you to, this one didn’t. Not every design needs to cater to your tastes and sensibilities and it’s insulting to have you demand anything when you already have designs you like. Just because you couch it in “this is my opinion” doesn’t shield your criticism from lacking merit, the design has a lot of detail and clearly is not ‘low effort’. It just doesn’t appeal -to you- and that’s fine you don’t like it. In fact, it’s good, there should be designs people don’t like because clearly, others do. It’s a wide cast and it’s arrogant and childish to demand that every character appeal to you.

You can just say ‘this isn’t for me’. Because it’s clearly for someone else, but that doesn’t make it mediocre or low quality or low effort, it’s just not a design aimed at you and it shouldn’t be.

Venture is fine. They’re a big giddy nerd and they have a lot of personality to them and clearly enthusiastic in what they do and that reflects in their design and their kit and voicelines. Fun to play and fun to play as, if it’s not for you, then don’t play it, simple as.
