VC ban was it right?

Ok so basically i was not allowed at all to talk in ow 2 since the beginning adding to alot of frustration in game on competitive what do i do.

try to appeal anything? I mean i know i was toxic against others who were throwing in game but i never got a permanent vc ban in OW 1 why automatic in OW 2.

if you were gonna ban me catch me when im doing it in the new game dont ban me immediately in the next.

do you know how many people i meet a day who do worse and now i can’t fight back when they start things feels like bullying but whatever.

I mean this is a first I’d say.

I believe in “say what you want but dont cry about the penalties when punished” type of thinking…Take it on the chin and stop being negative to teammates and you wont have any issues and wont have to come to the forums making threads !
hope this helps !!

idk dude i fell like if i got banned here i should of got abnned in ow 1 otherwise it feels like ow 2 is not ow 2 it feels like a continuation of ow 1 doesnt even feel like a new game im just saying in this situation in technicalities im right like if i was rageing in ow 2 then they ban me i would of understood and not typed this

Different time and different team behind each one. They also want to make the game a safer space with it being F2P.

THe banning system is completely broken…I was banned as well a few years back and didnt talk or text for over 2 weeks. Then one day,BAM !!
Banned from chat…The system in place is a complete joke and Blizzard should be ashamed of the laziness
Better off not talking or using text chat…Once your ban is over, dont talk to anyone and you wont have an issue

that doesn’t work either

i got banned for “Abusive chat” when i never once used any in game communication of any kind

the real reason is i played bastion, refused to change, and got mass reported for it

the “Lack of customer service staff” gave me the BS reason “Not chatting in a team based game can be considered abusive chat”… and upheld the ban

if playing in ranked then yes,its well deserved

Being toxic and abusive in VC or TC is against the EULA for all Blizzard games. You and all others agree to this when installing any game or using any service. They essentially can ban you for any sort of abusive chat. However, players can report for abusive chat and thats where the inconsistencies come from. You might not have a players in VC on some games and on others you might have more who wont tolerate trash talk and i dont blame them. So you never know when your getting reported. I for one dont verbally say or let other players know i reported them for abusive chat.

I think this is fair. No one deserves to have a toxic man child screaming abusive vulgarities into their ears. Most people wouldn’t do it in RL, why would someone act like trash to others in a game? I mean this is common sense.

Heres the problem:
What YOU think is trash talk or verbal abuse might differ to someone else…Much like saying “GG” is being toxic…not only is that absurd, but anyone who thinks such should seek Jesus

Ever heard of preventive measures?

Mute voice chat entirely since you can’t talk anyways

I highly doubt people are getting chat banned for saying GG. Its considered good sportsmanship and I say it too. I have never been banned from this game and I will never give anyone a reason too report me. I agree that some players might take things out of context, thats why blizzard is recording all chat engagements to vet out false reports in accordance to the EULA. I am sure that a very small % of reports might be unjust and thats when you can contact support to get a verdict. But I have played with a player in the past who has been VC, TC and permabanned on multiple occasions and accounts due to being toxic. When they reached out to Blizzard support they sent over transcripts via email of what was said in game. So they ARE watching what gets reported.

People are/have gotten banned for less…Saw some videos about this
Where a dude used a alt account and did “non toxic” text chat for a few months
He got text/voice banned…Was very interesting to say the least.
If I can find the vid I will post here

I agree with the OP, if this is OW 2 the ban from OW1 should be null. When OW4 comes out and the guy is 35 should be Voice Baned? All of you in this forum have verbally assaulted someone in this game, it just wasnt reported enough… Give the people a way to appeal these punishments… Maybe he was 11 when he did what he did and now hes 17. Life sentences is pretty harsh.

I agree. We all can get a bit heated in-game, but its how you handle yourself that counts. You can get upset and frustrated but as soon as you start flaming and bullying others is where you are just asking for a report. You can appeal this with blizzard if you reach out to them. However, there is a track record of your account across all blizzard games. If you act toxic in OW and get muted for it, you cant go into WoW or Heros of the Storm and chat there either.

Your account has a history attached to it. Just like in a court of law if someone has a bad track record of driving under the influence, they are less likely to be shown mercy by a Judge once caught again.

Then make the record public to the person that owns it. Its a sealed system in a sealed courtroom.

If you read my last post here,

You can reach out to Blizzard for clarification on what constituted a ban. This is a video game, not a courtroom. Building out a public records system for reports is just a waste of resources and another service to keep up with, and is overcomplicating a rather simple solution…

STOP. BEING. TOXIC.

I cordially disagree. If you are penalized for something like hurting someone’s feelings or using a naughty word or maybe you didn’t say anything and still got VC banned. Blizzard should have a system in which you can see what is attached to this proverbial permanent record. If they have a log or record of all the reports attached to his account then the game owner should see what Blizzard can see or it’s hearsay.

It is extremely unfair to punish someone without evidence or history and if they have that history, that should be made available for discovery to the accused. And there should be an avenue for appealing decisions, in the event, something was taken out of context or the whole story is unknown. The reporting mechanism is a pacifier for those with hurt feelings.

To the OP - just go buy a new game on eBy for 10.00 or playerauctions …

It depends upon what you said in Overwatch 1. If it was bad enough to roll over to the 2.0 game. It probably got a significant amount of attention by staff.

Usually players that are ultra toxic are treated to the Strict side of blizzard and that is some very fierce penalties. and whatever you said, they said. Is between them and you.

The community has no control over that.

I think you missed the part where I said that you can reach out to Blizzard Support for arbitration and clarification. You dont need a system for this, especially with the immature players who would use this system to dox others and make a huge HUGE mess outside of the game. No one needs to have easy access to reports in this game.

You are acting like this is an epidemic and everyone is getting banned. Neither you or I know exactly what the OP said or did that constituted the ban.

You are insisting we use a Catharine wheel to break a butterfly.
