What makes Valorant so horrid is that you die in under a second due to people being able to aim and one shot on head shots without barriers or healers being able to do anything. What follows is a game where you creep along the map for 3 minutes at a time until dying in under a second to a head shot. If anything it proves that while barriers and healers can be annoying for pew pew, pew pew unchecked is horrendously bad game design. Thus aim intensive heroes not being completely dominate actually saves this game from a far worse fate.
Whattt?!!
Xd
Winston dont needs good aiming skills and he is a high skill hero.
The problem is when one hero have a full low skills kit. (Less aiming skills, less positions skills and less game sense). No one hero should have a full low skills kit with high value.
This is the problem with ow
By this reasoning CoD, CS:GO, hell even TF2 would be horrible games. Their popularity/longevity says otherwise however.
This is pretty much how all tactical shooters play.
It’s only a surprise to someone if they go in expecting it to be a hero shooter like Overwatch… different subgenres are different
Those are horrid games, if OW was anything like them I wouldn’t play OW. TF2 on the other hand has gameplay similar to OW is the only other shooter I’ve actually ever enjoyed.
Honestly, super high mobility/aim based heroes everywhere does not a popular game make. That was the entire point/premise of Lawbreakers. It fell flat on its face.
They’re not horrid games, they’re just not for you
Like I said, tactical FPS almost always have instantaneous time to kill, no respawns, very high amount of rounds per match (like 30) etc it comes with the subgenre
I personally hate battle royales so I stay away from Fortnite, PUBG, CoD Warzone etc but I respect what they bring to the table for people into that subgenre
Aye they are definitely not for me, so people clamoring for OW to be more like them scares me that the OW developers will listen and one of the only games of its genre will be lost forever to the void that is over satured tactical FPS genre and OW will die to me that day.
Not liking a genre =/= horrid games. I don’t like fighting or sports games at all, but I can still respect their game designs if they’re good.
Yet, it’s so easy to get one shot in that game unless you’re being ubered by a medic. Sniper headshot, random crit rocket, sticky bomb trap, sentry rockets, demoknight and of course… spy backtab.
There’s a few things, but not nearly as prevelant as CoD or CS:GO. A basic gun in those one shots, not the case in TF2, only very specific things.
Valorant is not a horrid game – it’s literally just a clone of CounterStrike with some abilities added.
Riot has yet to have an original idea in their entire existence. Yet, it’s not terrible – just not something that will appeal to a lot of Overwatch players.
The Valorant / CS / CoD and Overwatch are different types of games. They are not directly comparable. People enjoying those games exactly for the short TTK, and enjoy the long “plateau” period, when all the planning, faking and brain game happen. People enjoying Overwatch come for different amusement, such as diversity of interaction and exchange of abilities between toons.
Comparing Valorant vs Overwatch is like comparing football vs chess. In football, you gather adrenaline for 5 minutes then release all of them in 5 seconds. In chess, the thrill builds up the whole game while also releasing it at the same time. Both has great number of audience.
Does Overwatch have short TTK heroes? Yes, Doomfist, Widow, Cree all are in this category. However, they are good for diversity, which I think is the core value of Overwatch. Also, thanks for diversity itself, there are counter plays against them. It only goes bad if these heroes become unbalanced (like initial Doomfist), and people feel extra oppressed by these heroes.
That’s not a one shot
Exactly so its crazy when people are constantly asking for OW to be more like them when doing so would ruin OW for those that don’t want it to be like a tactical FPS.
Thankfully most of the “Valorant is better/here’s what val does better than OW” topics are all pretty much gone now
the hype train has definitely left the station
Why are we still comparing OW to a game it has nothing in common with besides shooting?
I’m not following your logic. Aim intensive doesn’t mean everyone suddenly just dies instantly.
I’m not comparing them, I’m saying if the OW forums had their way with OW and all the aim based heroes could carry like they want them to, OW would in fact die and be a terrible game.
Aim based heroes already can carry like they want to. McCree and Ashe are really great picks rn.
They’re great picks, but they aren’t the end all be all, and its a good thing that they aren’t.
