Valkyrie Buff idea

Valkyrie:

  • Healing: Targets are immune to DPS Passive
  • Damage Boost: Targets damage apply the DPS passive, Regardless of role.

Perhaps silly? Just a random thought.

Neat.

I’m not sure exactly how much of a buff it would be, but it’s an original idea at least (to me).

I almost proposed that her healing and damage boost just do that outside of valk.

Valk’s effectiveness is directly proportional to how many teammates are in range of each other. The changes are nice but maybe a bit redundant.

Leave us alone – main Mercys

But I love you.

I think that’s pretty cool! It makes targets 20% easier to heal if damaged by a DPS. There’s many situations where that comes in handy.

Causing the debuff regardless of role is really cool too. A Valkyrie with multiple people or a really aggressive tank, this helps, for example.

Bypassing the dps passive would be a pretty big one. Basically means any target getting hit by a dps is going to not be out that 10-20% debuff. That’s nothing to scoff at.

Not saying im for or against the idea- but it would be an appreciable difference

I feel like bypassing the passives built into the game would be pretty strong for any hero. Granted it is an ultimate and Mercy has always needed something to bring her back into the main support role (because her kit defines her this way). The global 25% damage buff is already powerful enough in Valkyrie that she doesn’t need anything added onto it. Her main issue has always been that her healing is incredibly lackluster for a hero that… relies on just healing the team, because a Battle Mercy is a useless Mercy most of the time.

This is why I feel the goal should be to make her feel like the dedicated healing support she is suppose to feel like in impactful ways.

I’ve heard mercy mains state they think valk is largely boring and doesn’t feel impactful. If mercy is THE healing expert of Overwatch I think it stands to reason that she would not only understand how to heal wounds better (bypass the dps passive) but also understand the anatomy of an enemy well enough to use it indirectly against them (apply damage passive to any boost target).

Something does need to be done and it may not even be my idea here. But I think Mercy players need something to feel flashy and impactful in a lore driven sense.

Maybe give her 30% damage boost back in her ult too, the description literally says that her abilities are “”“enhanced”“” in valk when the one thing she gets is +5 HPS

Sounds meh but I still think Mercy needs her rez changed.

I dont get why it was so OP when Echo ult returned her to 200 hp after ult that it had to get removed, but Mercy’s basic ability is allowed to bring back 700+ HP super weapons without a problem.

Not to mention it never even got nerfed post S9 where she just outright can tank more damage, in an Overwatch where a lot of the common interrupts were removed.

Is it super crazy overpowered and wahwahwah Mercy braindead? Nope. But its bad inconsistent game design that seems to reward going for the wrong play for no other reason than “haha memes”

No one wants to hear it nowadays but Mercy was the most impactful when she could stack her resurrects in Valkyrie. Her resurrect ability has always been the strongest part of her kit. It should have a much lower cooldown during Valkyrie so that Mercy players can do something besides left click/right click for the whole game.

THIS IS AN AMAZING IDEA. The thing with Valkyrie is that it’s just one of the worst support ults. Healing goes from 55 to 60 hps only and that’s BEFORE the DPS passive is applied, making the healing useless (which is pitiful in comparison to the healing of other support ults). And chain damage boost is decent but wayyy weaker than Bap’s Amp Matrix, Nano, Kitsune Rush, and other offensive buff oriented support ults (also, all of those offensive support ults still provide more healing/sustain than Valk). Valk really is the WORST support ult in the game, so I think this buff would be great.

None of us are saying that. We are SCREAMING for a rework with higher skill expression in return for more value. We have been asking for this for at least 4 seasons now and they don’t listen.

Not a bad idea. Small but rather impactful.

This is exactly how I feel about it too. I don’t play mercy because I lack the movement skill for it.

But Valk seems to be mostly a means of Mercy surviving long enough to rez rather than supporting in more meaningful ways.

This idea popped in to my head because its unique but also addresses some issues without just stacking numbers. Whilr at the same time feels like it matches her character and lore.

Glad you like it! :+1:
