i use an xbox controller for my movement and a mouse to aim while playing on pc. while im using both my frame rate drops for some reason. if i use just the controller or just the keyboard and mouse i dont have any issues with the frames dropping;. In addition, storm bow and sonic arrow will sporadically switch spots causing either keybind to trigger either ability. i understand this is a strange method to play but it seems to be the most comfortable for me and i would appreciate some advice or some sort of internal resolution
Hey there! Having migrated to PC from PS4, I totally know the feeling
What I did was invested in something called a âFragchuckâ from a company called Splitfish Gameware, itâs half a controller so youâre getting what I considered to be the best of both worlds: omnidirectional movement plus precision mouse aiming.
I cannot answer your question as to why your frames drop, so I apologize. I know when I used a DS4 on PC I had to download an external program to utilize it. Some users on a forum I was on made mention of using a method similar to yours where the game/PC would get confused reading the input from the switching between controller/M&kb settings. So it may have to do with that.
One final note, since youâre posting on the competitive section⊠I no longer use the Fragchuck, as there is a delay in input in the form of milliseconds. Itâs hardly noticeable, but just enough that it can cost you lives in game. So be aware of that
If some abilities switch spots, you could turn on the setting that forces the mouse and keyboard UI. It might help but I canât say for sure. But honestly the best thing you can do is just learn to be comfortable with WASD
i plan on making the jump to a more traditional pc gaming pad but i would like to try your solution. where do i find that setting?
I just checked, itâs in the controller settings in the advanced section, it should say âforce keyboard/mouse interfaceâ. Hope it works.
I did same in beginning. Learn to go mouse and keyboard. Didnât take me too long.
worked like a charm. thanks so much guys!
Yeah, iâd say just go mouse and keyboard. You get used to it, and before long you wonât want to use a controller in a game like this ever again.
Seems like something for carpel tunnel syndrome ppl esp if itâs the left hand that was bothering
I went back using a controller last month for fun and it drive me bonkers lol
What is your PC spec? Mutiple input device will use more CPU resource. But if you have a good CPU, it shouldnât cause a noticble frame drop.
I did this in BL3 because the lag felt so bad. Itâs really not that bad.
i have an older i5 4690k i believe
the advice on forcing keyboard and mouse interface fixed the issue for anyone else having the problem!
To let you know it has to do with the switching that the game has to do when going from controller to mouse multiple times very quickly. I use to have an i5 and it isnât the quickest CPU for todayâs games and it took 1.5sec to switch to controller from keyboard.
The switching of the abilities has to do with your keybindings and how controller switches due to button placement.
But yes using forced keyboard contols would fix both the input delay and keybind issue.
4690k is a bit old, but should able to handle ow at 144fps. Did you solved your issue yet? I suggest you should try to adapt to a full keyboard and mouse setup, and it will likely benefit you in the long run. A mechanical keyboard with black or red switch will help, I think keyboard can help with faster strafing movement because there is no analog signal, you will accelerate to 100% movement speed the moment you press the key, which make enemies harder to aim.
I appreciate the suggestions on moving over to the keyboard and mouse. I didnât even realize there was a delay at all when using the thumbstick.
I think that mouse and gamepad together should not make problem. Itâs still just keybindings. Maybe not enough power for both? That would be new.
