Using voice chat hurts your SR

Especially if you play dps because as soon as someone calls you trash the game is basically being thrown. Alternatively, if you’re not getting healed and you say something you tilt your healers and they throw. Not only that but all these people do in chat is complain. They want to pick your character. They want 2-2-2, you may not or they want GOATS whatever. It’s all a waste of time. If you ever even politely disagree with someone they either get tilted or they report you for toxicity or they throw. Best thing you can do if you play dps is to turn off VC.

I agree. Why use communication in a team game. Its never helped anyone play.

Whatever benefits you get from callouts is vastly underwhelming compared to what goes on in VC. When I’m in VC sometimes I’ll go on tilt streaks where I lose 200 SR even if I’m trying not to. After every single game that is a loss someone is going to say “garbage dps” “never play dps again” etc etc.

If you avoid VC you simply stay in a good mood and avoid tilting others that could potentially cause a throw also.

As a support main I hate when people do this. There’s no reason to tilt over someone asking for healing
As long as you’re not toxic shouting “heal me” or “why don’t you f(Jeff censor)cking heal me” I appreciate the callout.
Sometimes I tunnel vision and hearing who needs heals is nicer than having to look around for the popup

Well sure, to you…
You’re jamming your DPS only pick into every single team comp, mostly just one tricking Ashe but if not Ashe it’s still all DPS until like 7+ heroes down your hero pool.
Honestly what do you expect to happen in a team game? Maybe the tank players are decent for your SR and want to run tank heavy comps. Too bad, you’re going Ashe. Need a 2nd support? Nah, you’re going Ashe.
Doesn’t really mater what the team needs, you’re going Ashe.
That sort of selfish play tend to annoy teams, a ton.

people in rank have a serious stress/anxiety problem. The difference of behaviour between rank and qp is incredible.

I just played for like 6 hours straight with all chat off and it was wonderful. Usually I’m tilted out of my mind after every other game ppl proclaiming garbage dps.

But chat muted I actually gained SR, didn’t tilt, didn’t tilt my teammates, and had pleasant play.

I’ve had the opposite experience, even though I used to join VC regularly I’d never actually make calls and what have you. I started doing that and my games improved immensely.

And whenever someone starts whining and blaming the DPS or something like that I tell them to use VC properly and not as a place to vent, just make calls and all that good stuff otherwise you’re doing more damage than good, and it usually works, even when I go DPS myself.

My worst games so far have been the ones where people don’t join voice chat and it’s usually the duos and trios.

I tilt really easily though so it doesn’t work for me. Also once I tilt I stay tilted into the next game and when playing dps it’s better to just use the auto functions.

Like I will spam group up, my ult is ready, or need healing etc.

Since when has Overwatch been a team game though?

Only when competitive is played as 6 stack only will it be a team game. *

I avoid voice team voice myself for the most part, because stupid comments tilt me for the rest of the match. No point muting when the damage has already been done.

Match chat does not improve your play and team chat more often than not is people being narky.

(*) I desperately want to be proven wrong :frowning:

I’m a tank/support main, and being in voice chat is one of the reasons I went from once dropping into Silver, to high Plat/low Diamond.

If I’m on Zen or Ana, people not being in voice chat means I’m potentially less useful, because they won’t hear my discord call outs or when there’s a flanker harassing me.

If I’m on Rein or Winston, having voice chat enabled means I can better coordinate with my team, so I don’t constantly just have to hold my shield up or guess that they’ll follow me.

If someone is being toxic, then report them, block them, avoid them, do whatever… But leaving voice chat by default is limiting how well your team can actually perform.

Honestly, I feel this post. It’s as if sometimes people completely forget they’re in the same rank as you. Even a minor mistake can be met with a barrage of insults that just aren’t making anyone play any better whatsoever. Sometimes it can really be better to tune them out and focus on what you can do better.

So if someone just says something like “wtf are yall doing” that is grounds to be reported and banned? lol gaming is so lame nowadays. I remember in the early 2000’s no one got banned for jack crap. I played Halo 2 i never saw anyone banned and it twas fun.

CS is still good.

Didn’t say that. Your example is blatantly dishonest. That wouldn’t get the average person banned, and you know it.

I put in over 1500 hours on Halo 2, and I saw plenty of people get reported, suspended, etc. for toxic behavior. Again, quit pretending punishment for toxic behavior is a new concept.

I generally use VC when Im tank or healer but not when I dps. I guarantee you will have at least a 75% chance of being called trash if you lose one game. Try playing 10 games in a row. You might even be called trash or whatever or screamed at even if you’re winning. Also if you say anything in the VC you will probably end up being reported also.

You will tilt and lose 300 SR in nothing flat. I’ve done it so many times I realized it was a cycle that is easily stopped by just not using VC when I dps.

Maybe if you’re in masters or something none of this is true, but in gold and plat, 99% of what they talk about in VC is absolutely worthless to listen to anyways.

Didn’t say that. I said being banned for toxicity isn’t a new concept.

There are countless videos on YouTube proving otherwise.

did halo 2 have ranked play?

Did people get banned from games? yes usually for things like cheating

Was gaming like it is now where people can easily be banned for being “toxic?” no

This is coming from a person who is toxic, i was very “toxic” as a teenager and never was banned for any games. Nowadays i can get communication removed or be banned just because the game is full of butt hurt people who report at the drop of a dime.

Seriously. Haven’t you people heard the time old phrase “sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me?”

It’s like everyone that plays games nowadays lives in a bubble.
