It ruined the whole game lmao
I’m done until they fix it. If they don’t fix the priority pass issue before Blizzcon it’s safe to say that OW2 is gonna tank and a bunch of people are gonna be out of a job.
I see this type of comment so many times and genuinely can’t understand how people can’t get their heads around it.
The SR system is based on achieving a 50% win percentage or as close to as possible. If you say the average match is 20 mins, say 2 min tank que 2 min healer queue 10 minute DPS queue, as a DPS I can either wait 10 mins for DPS slot or queue 2 mins for tank plus play 20 min game (total 22 mins) to then priority queue DPS for as further 5 mins (total 27 mins for 1 DPS match). Now based on a 50% win percentage, why would I choose not to wait in a 10 min DPS queue if the alternative was no loss passes so I’d potentially have to waste 22 mins on a tank game still to then have to queue the 10 min DPS queue because I lost the tank match on coin toss?
Passes for losses, mkn 2, is a must to even get people to buy into the system. If reducing passes reduce wins to 5 or 4.
Now why would they ban their repeat customers for purchasing multiple accounts?
Activision Blizzard is dutifully beholden to their bottom line, and that doesn’t always align with the best interests of well-intentioned players. What some may interpret as a band-aid mentality is actually just highly-optimized capitalism.
Yea, the system is trash. We didn’t need priority pass, we needed blizzard to fix their dumpsterfire of a game and make tanks more interactive. Instead we got a deathmatch map.
Yea because capitalism is amazing for everyone involved not just the devs. Pause. Not.
This game is pure garbage and will continue to be pure garbage until they listen to the player base instead of stroking eachothers egos in their back office about how “great” they THINK their game is, when in all actuality, they’ve run it into the ground and thats the general consensus of it all.
I found it easier to find semi-permanent WoW players to run content. Oh how? Because they have guilds.
Overwatch can’t because the tools aren’t given to us. It needs in-game social tools to form long-term groups.
Make it so you get nothing when you lose.
Does this stack with Priority Requeue in terms of when someone leaves a previous match early and the match is canceled?
I never said the situation benefitted all parties involved. I just want people to be better informed of where incentives lie so that they can vote with their wallets accordingly.
no i meant make priority passes for both comp and quickplay, but flex queue would only be quickplay, so you can go into quickplay and get some passes, but still be able to use them in comp.
Then where would the additional Tank and Support players in comp be coming from?
This would only help QP queue times while Comp DPS players would not only have the same queue times as without priority passes, they would also have to play Flex Queue in QP for it on top.
Can actual tank mains get in on the Priority Pass fun too? I’m tired of staring at my worthless 40/40 passes every time I sit waiting in queue—and I don’t care if the other roles typically have longer queue times than mine. As a tank main, when I’m feeling impatient, I want the ability to spend however many passes needed to jump into a game NOW!
That’s right: all I’m asking is for is an option for tanks to jump ahead of other tanks in the tank queue. (Yes, that means to apply the same rules for other roles when they are in short supply as well; I’m not trying to purposely single out tanks, but to get my point across.)
Edit: grammar
As a Support main, it’s very frustrating when the team complains about heals and it’s because I have a flex-queue DPS main slotted in as the other Support just DPSing all day with Ana/Brig/Moira… alongside me playing, Mercy for instance.
I like the spirit of flex queue but it’s really making the job even harder on the mains in tank/support roles having to cover for them. It’s almost as if it would be better to NOT have role queue at all so that teams naturally build around who wants to play that match. Just start matchmaking people according to their time played with certain heroes (since rank doesn’t matter with all the smurfs)
Is it coincidence that now we see Hamster/Zarya/Roadhog in every match and being played as harder-to-kill DPS?
Here is the thing: by this point, or close to it, if they were honestly worse then you to any significant degree they would have fallen by now. Flex has been out long enough that I would say its safe to say that a statistically relevant number of games have been put in by a solid chunk of this community even at roles they have not played in awhile and as such we are just about back to having people be where they belong.
Not with matchmaking the way it is. Quantitative factors like on-fire points and nice stats are heavily in favor of killing things, which is not as valued in tank/support. I can have an absolutely insane game of incredible acrobatics and clutch plays as Support and still lose because the team can’t score kills. I end up in a lower ranked match following that and lose again. If I have an amazing match as DPS, I almost always end up in a better ranked match after.
Flex queuers straight up pull down the overall play of tanks/supports. I just don’t want dps mains ruining matches in this way. Especially smurfs who know nothing but how to DPS.
First off if you are a tank, you absolutely are the power role that can help secure kills (frankly a tank is the closest thing to a carry role this game has).
Second, while I have not dealt with it in awhile, healers generally are better off in the games where nothing dies and always have been. I could send some messages and see if that is still the case, but I suspect some of my, um lower ranked friends (cant think of a polite way to word this), would have mentioned if they finally fixed it after it was broken for so many years.
Either way it was literally never so broken that you could get away with more than a 45% win rate and hold steady and even then you generally were just outright out playing your rank and they were giving you some bad luck protection (or good luck protection depending on what you wanted to do).
How about Blizzard Admit adding role queues to quick play was a mistake. Remove them and keep them in competitive where they belong and not in Quick play that is never quick anymore.
