Unsurprisingly, Mercy’s Winrate is Rising

You are a wildly brave soul for posting that.

Mercy’s winrate is 100%. This may be because only one person still plays Mercy and they’re really good but STATISTICS BABY !

Suck it Mercy mains

That’s a gross prejudice you have against Torb players. Not everyone who picks him is a troll.

I’ve lost any form of respect for you as a person seeing you don’t afford others basic decency purely based on your prejudice.

Idiot.

mercy mains will never be happy unless their main is powerful

she is balanced now but their excuse will always be “she is unfun” but they actually mean “not powerful enough”

The Mercy rework does not reflect this at all…

Mercy was considered to be trash tier before her rework, played largely just due to her low skill floor and how popular she was. Yet, she was fun back then. I don’t care if she’s not “hurr durr must pick for 1 year straight” powerful again, I just want a hero that’s enjoyable to play. And before you go, “just pick another hero,” I have no problems with that. I play plenty of other heroes, but it’s sad seeing the hero I fell in love with and the biggest reason I bought Overwatch be in this state.

Mercy’s win rate is not rising significantly. It is fluctuating, and generally remaining under 50% in GM. OP’s provided graph shows three rising nodes at the end of the data, but does not include the next day that is now recorded on Overbuff where it takes another fall.

Mercy remains the worst pick for support in GM by win rate, with consistently more than 6% difference between her win rates post-nerf and her win rates pre-nerf. It’s very clear that she is not in a good spot. Unsurprisingly, people continue to try to use the data to push their own agenda whether it’s correct or not.

GM players get matched up against players who are not as skilled because there are not enough GM players for matchmaking to always find matches in a timely manner. Something is wrong with any hero who has a consistently negative win rate in the GM SR bracket, as Mercy continues to have, because her win rate is not rising. It’s not even staying above 50%.

tbh overbuff is not entirely useless right now, but stats for Mercy really are inaccurate, more so than other heroes. Remember all those mercy mains who said they were going to use private profiles? yeah they really are. practically overnight Mercy’s pick rate dropped from 95% to 70% (that’s going from shortly before private profiles to about a week after private profiles). Nothing else changed about Mercy in that time so we can only assume the drop was related to private profiles.

For other heroes it seems to have balanced out, enough people are not using private profiles that their stats remained largely similar.

If you highlight the values in the graph it tells you what it is.

The update to Mercy dropped on August 9th and she had a 54.66% winrate.

Mercy’s winrate on Today August 25th was 49.67%, yesterday was 50.38%, the day before that was 48.44%, before that it was 47.16 which is the low for the month, and before that it was 50.64%.

Her pick rate has not bounced up yet to a significant point.

Her winrate for the week is the 2nd lowest in Grand Master. While it is around 50% that’s pretty bad for GM as GM players frequently play against lower ranks.

Grand Master also includes a limited number of players, as her pick rate drops further the winrate will fluctuate more wildly. For example, during the last month Bastion’s win % for a given day has bounced between 0% and 100%.

The original poster either didn’t know that highlighting the item in question showed the value or is being deliberately misleading.

This does not mean that Mercy won’t bounce back but, it’s not happening just yet in GM.

You seem to think I think a revert is the only sollution.
News flash, when I say the hero I fell in love with I also talk about the fun mobility of her base kit. Which gets halted every thirty seconds by E rez which forces me to be a statue or Valk making survival way too easy with nothing but choice taken away…

A new rework could fix these problems, and all it would take is the developers to put some actual thought into their design as opposed to the first non sense some random coder puts into the game to giggle at and then watching in horror as the rest of the team jumps on it and shoves it straight to live despite even the pro’s having showcased just how crazy it was while it was on Beta.

Except, it’s not. Lately, it’s been dropping. The results you get in the “This Month” tab aren’t accurate because her winrate was fluctuating greatly post-nerf. If you go to the “This Week” tab you can see the stats more precisely, which shows us that her winrates for the past week have been

  • 53.63%
  • 52.29%
  • 50.64%
  • 47.16%
  • 48.44%
  • 50.38%
  • 48.22%

… or that she’s stabilizing around a barely even/slightly negative winrate, which in GM means a net loss of SR. And she’s struggling to maintain even that.

Either way her winrate/pickrate hasn’t settled yet so it’s still too soon to be using data to make any calls on how good/bad she might be.

I personally feel that many DPS players feel the only way to fairly influence a match outcome is getting kills.

If a tank is good at stopping damage…DPS fun is at risk.

If a support is good at sustaining a fight…DPS fun is at risk.

DPS fun has been put on a pedestal by the developers and many community members.

If a tank or support is changed, it’s generally due to DPS demands and less consideration is given to the fun and experience of the tank or support player.

if you find mercy’s core kit to be “unfun” and only find her ult to be fun then you never actually liked mercy or this is just a argument to revert her back to mas rez

which will never happen, they should delete rez and give her something else honestly

How many times does one have to say. You cannot use these statistics to prove anything, they are inaccurate! Ever since Private Profiles, overbuff has been virtually useless.

Single-day winrate among the tiny amount of players who are in GM and have public profiles is a pretty useless metric and fluctuates wildly from day to day.

I had no doubt her winrate would rise to normal.

The issue here was, Mercy is turned into a specialist hero, something that people need to learn and understand with all the optimization in her kit to get real value and win games.

So all the people flexing to mercy at the start, were essentially bringing down her overall winrate.

Yeah but she’s never been fun to play, a residentsleeper hero if ever I saw one!

character is ‘fine’ she still works with certain comps and is arguably the best healer to have with most hitscans dps for damage boost, the problem is she trash resident sleeper tier hero to play, if i were to give the option to mercy players to revert her back to s1 state and that she would get even lower pick rates, they would bite my hand off.

You’re looking at noise on an improperly scaled win rate graph and coming to conclusions. The graph shows Mercy’s win rate rising for 3 consecutive days (by a whopping 0.7%). The three days prior to that it was decreasing (interestingly enough, Moira’s win rates have also gone up for the past 3 days by 1%, but no one claims that people learned how to play her better). The win rates of any character fluctuate naturally (and differently in each rank). It goes up, and it goes down naturally, but the upward trend you are pointing out doesn’t seem to be an actual feature of it. Read off the numbers themselves, there’s no real trend here. Not in all ranks, and not in any specific rank.

The win rates have been stable for the past couple of weeks, up to some noise. Mercy is the worst healer (in terms of win rate) in all ranks plat-gm, and second worst bronze-plat. In every single rank she’s below the rank’s average win rate.

This is really remarkable given her declining pick rates, since as you point out her pick rates have been going down drastically. She should have had some significant win rate bounce back, but that didn’t really happen. And if it did happen, it should have happened more dramatically in higher ranks since that’s where people are better at picking good comps. This is not the case.

Mercy is designed to be a generalist hero. She doesn’t really have the marks of a specialist. But even if she was, the data indicates that she’s much more specialized than Ana (who herself is considered comp dependent) and probably more than Lucio and Zenyatta. I don’t think this is the case.
