Unsupported hardware?

Today when I logged into Overwatch there was a popup message letting me know that there was “unsupported hardware detected” for OW2. Says OW2 won’t run on anything that has under 6GB ram. But… I have 8GB? I have an AMD Ryzen 5 on my surface laptop. In the About section of Settings it reads “8GB (5.98GB usable)”. Would that be the issue? How to make sure I can run OW2 on my laptop when it comes out? Thanks in advance.

Dang that sucks. It sounds like some of your memory is reserved (probably for gfx processing), so you don’t meet the minimum available memory requirements by 0.02GB. Hopefully the game still runs for you when the time comes.

Was the message about the RAM specifically? I’m asking because Overwatch 2 will not run on integrated GPUs, which the Microsoft Surface laptops use. Instead, a standalone GPU is required:

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 600 series, AMD Radeon™ HD 7000 series

Overwatch 1 could run on low settings with integrated GPUs, like the Intel UHD 630.

Just logged into Overwatch 1 for the first time in a while, got the same message about 6 GB of RAM (it was about RAM specifically), I have 6 GB but only 5,87 is available
It was not about GPU’s, but just to make sure: I do have a standalone NVIDIA GPU.

Really hoping this popup doesn’t mean I just won’t be able to play Overwatch in the future.

Hi! Yes, I believe the message mentioned RAM specifically. As for the GPU, this is what I have: “AMD Radeon™ Vega 9 Graphics Microsoft Surface® Edition.” Comparing with what you said, it probably doesn’t meet the requirements… :frowning:

Correct, it would not meet the requirements.
