Unstable FPS - GTX 1060

Hi all,

I have the surface book 2 15 (Specs: 16GB RAM, i7-8650U, GTX 1060 6GB, ssd) with a 144hz external monitor connected (using a type-c to display port connector)

I have FPS issues when playing overwatch (resolution is 1920X1080@144hz, all video settings on Low/Off, except to render 100% and texture High).

I do get a stable FPS (150~), with perfect response time when playing the training mode, however, when playing multiplayer, the FPS keep getting unstable (90-150 FPS).

Temperature is fine. 64-69 degrees.

Is there a chance my laptop can’t run this game on a stable 150 FPS with the lowest settings?
What am I missing here?

Thanks!

It’s normal for fps to drop in multiplayer where there is more going on. In the practice range I have 300+ fps, spectating a busy team fight that drops to low 200’s.

You could check your CPU and GPU load to see if they are high/maxed or not, HWmonitor is a decent program for that. Also the Surface Book probably has a more aggressive power saving profile by default compared to a desktop system which could impair performance, even when plugged into power, you can look into that.
