I don’t know what’s going on as I’m fairly new to overwatch, but I pretty much can’t play this game with friends. Last night we had a 2 person party, waited 50 minutes for 1 match. 2 hours later we were never put into another game. I almost always queue as all roles. This didn’t seem to really be an issue until the last month or so, we maybe had to wait up to 10 minutes for a match as a party. If I play by myself I’m put into a match in under 30 seconds, but not being able to play in a party is kinda killing this game for me. I’m not really sure what to do.
On a rare occasion the Q glitches out and won’t actually ‘reset’ itself. Sometimes you need to just drop the Q and reselect. The other thing too could be your region and choice of time.

We’ve tried leaving queues and resetting, but that doesn’t seem to make it any better. Like i said, this only happens when I try to play with a friend. It will say queue times are less than 10 minutes, but we always have to wait forever. If I queue by myself I get a game in under 30 seconds. This didn’t used to be an issue, just the last month or so
What platform are you using? Console or PC? Also your region and time can make a difference.
I would guess that youre using console and your friend is not enabling crossplay, but I cant be sure.
Yes, which platform, region, time, and what’s your SR spread? Are you using Crossplay, as well?

I’m on PS4, I don’t know what SR rank is, neither of us have ever played rank. Only role queue/open queue quick play. I do have turned crossplay on and he said he did too.
I would try having one of you just role lock for Support. For whatever reason, if you try to Queue for everything (both of you), then it acts like it’s trying to look for only DPS/Tank games (which can take awhile).
My friends and I had this issue last week. We all picked all roles and it took almost 8 minutes to find a game, but when we had one or two of us pick Support as our only option, we found games near instantly.
OP I was able to recently 5 stack two days ago.
I’m on PS4, I have a friend on Xbox, and we had others on pc. We were able to get matches in a range of immediately to about 10 minutes.
What are you playing on?
What are your friends playing on?
If anyone is playing on console, did they decided to shut off crossplay?
What time?
What region?
What are your guys ranks? And were the highest ranking players playing their best roles?
I order for my party of 5 to get faster queues. We had our best player go on his alt account, I played my worst role and so did my bf to drop the mmr rating.
If the mmr ratings between the highest and lowest is an immense gap you guys are in for a rough time and a long wait.
Try to have the high mmr rating people play on their worse role to drop the rating.
Sometimes resetting the queue helps too.
Thanks for all the answers so far. Between this thread and a little research, im assuming it has something to do with the mmr ratings. I play the game more frequently than my friends, so it seems that has something to do with it. We are all on playstation, and all have crossplay on. None of us have ever played ranked, which I thought was the only type of ranking in the game(now I slightly understand MMR). Like I said in a previous post, I’m still new to overwatch as I only started playing when OW2 came out. Never played ranked because there’s a lot I didn’t understand and didn’t want to ruin matches for people. Thank you for the answers and being patient with a newbie.
This is really odd, as I play on a PS4 every single night grouped with a friend and we get really short queue times in role queue. I wouldn’t dream of playing open queue, so that I can’t compare.
Yeah I’m not 100% sure why my actual wait times are so long. In the role selection when I play with a friend it will say less than 7 minutes, but it’s never even close to that. Saturday night we waited in queue for 50 minutes before being put into our first game. After that we waited 2 hours and never got another match. We even re queued a couple times after 30-45 mins. Like I said before, this has only been going on for about a month, before my actual wait time with a party was only up to about 15 mins at longest.
