We got crossplay (which I’ve never seen anyone asking for), so how’s about that unranked mode? You know, the mode where you play by comp rules, but with no ranks? The mode where you play both attack and defense sides of the map with best of three? Seen people saying how they play QP to train for comp, but how is that gonna train you when if you’re on defense that’s the only side you’re gonna play?
Heroes of the Storm has had such a mode for I don’t remember how many years, but why isn’t it a thing in OW I’m not sure. Would also make room for QP being the “goofy” mode and by that I mean bringing back all the previous versions of QP as sub modes. So you click QP and get to choose “no limits”, “open queue”, or “role queue”.

No. Not at all.
Yeah if they do that to quick play, I might actually play it from time to time.

It’s going to be treated like QP eventually. I highly doubt anyone will take unranked seriously; there’s nothing to win or lose, so why would anyone stick around when the game gets tough?
Don’t like the map? Leave.
Lost round one? Leave.
Don’t like hero picks? Leave.
If players do this already in normal competitive and QP, imagine unranked. They gave us the option to make games with comp settings in custom games. I just think a bajillion modes will separate the player base and pool more.

Nonsense, it’s not about “taking it seriously”. It’s about letting people play a full game without it affecting SR. Unranked mode could have a leavers penalty too, if it’s necessary. Custom games are not really played, we have two quick plays, two permanent comp modes and arcade modes. Making an unranked won’t seperate the playerpool at all.
Yeah and off-season thing discontinued in 2019 or so

Play competitive and ignore the rank, there you go. Perfect.

Which sounds like something very few would bother queuing up for. Imo.
And how will MM work? Especially those who have never played comp and only really have their QP experience on hand.

This is the best option right now.
Better matches, no cross play (for PC).
Bit of a no brainer really.

Just like QP they would matchmake based on the MMR

Yes. This should replace QP in fact.

I’d love such a mode, but only if it had a hidden MMR (without visible ranks or skill rating) similar to ranked, so you would get matched with people of your skill level.

But this makes “quick” play long. I play quick play for quick matches, coins for maximum 10 minute matches. I don’t want it to be like Valorant where an unranked match can be drawn out for ages. So I think they should add it to the game but not replace “quick” play with “long” play.

A “rank” is a construct anyway, just play the current ranked mode if that’s the kind of game you want to play. I don’t think we need yet another mode to take away players from the pool, especially a mode like this that is ultimately…unnecessary. Y’all take ranked way too seriously, it’s a game.
I do think having those modes right there in quick play could be kind of nice, but also unnecessary, because they’re already right there in the arcade, or anytime in a custom match
But what if you want to play with friends? Ranked doesn’t allow for that, unless you have smurf accounts ready. Quick Play is just casual and competitive people don’t want to play it. Competitive has a lot of restrictions and QP is just QP
If we would have an unranked mode, then you could teach new players better habits to play in competitive
When we used to have “off-season” on overwatch for a few days after a season ended everyone just treated it like a longer version of QP
Well unranked would be like that, I didn’t play back then when off-season system was in place. Was it before Ashe launch? But unranked gamemodes in valorant and lol have done it well. Competitive is too restrictive and stressful at times
So its basically QP with a new name.
Competitive is already like quickplay. None of it matters at all. Honestly they should just removed the ranking number from competitive. That would fix a lot of problems with the game.
Have you ever played competitive mode? It has attack and defend rounds. In quick play you only start as attacker and only play as attacker for example. Unranked would be a full game, where QP is always only half a game.
But you can’t always play it with a friend group, competitive rules won’t allow it. Comp has restrictions like 1000-500 SR levels. So if you are 2000 Gold SR you can’t play with 3050 Diamond SR friend. And duo queue only in GM
This is a minor thing. QP is not defined by the fact that you only attack/defend (though play a full game of king of the hill). At its core in QP no one takes it particularly seriously which is why it is a clown fiesta. Doubling the game length does not make it not QP. It is still going to be QP in every way, shape, and form.
