After playing two Arcade Hero Gauntlet matches, I played an Unranked Open Queue Quickplay game and found that I had unlock every Hero introduced in OW2. To put this into perspective, winning that game unlocked Hanzo (requires 9 matches at most), which meant I was far from unlocking Echo (requires 75 games at least), which had been the previous unlock challenge for the OW2 heroes. I believe it was a bug that came with the temporary unlock of every hero that the Arcade Hero Gauntlet offered, or possibly even me looking into and playing some Hero Mastery (I didn’t play any of Echo’s challenges though), but when I look into the progression of any OW2 hero, I cannot find any unlock challenge. Was there an update I’m not privy to or did I actually discover a bug? Am I allowed to keep and/or play my possibly inorganically unlocked heroes?
i have honestly no clue, i know they made all new heroes unlocked.
I can’t tell you if thats also the case for the new player hero unlock journey…
would make sense if you ask me to unlock it all.
sorry if I missunderstand you.
I don’t think you’re misunderstanding me, it’s just that, if you met the requirements for one OW2 Hero, you had them all unlocked, present or future (save for the ones locked behind a Gamepass). This meant that, unless you did some up-until-this-moment pointless research, you wouldn’t know that the OW2 Heroes were locked away from newer players.
To your credit, I also believe it would be nice for Blizzard to unlock all new Heroes. However, it does make more sense, from a strictly monetary perspective, to lock nearly every Hero, old or new, behind a play-time wall that you can pay money to get over. Plus, it’s Blizzard…
Im having the opposite of that situation…mine is saying i need to unlock echo to unlock the other characters BUT echo is ALREADY unlocked to me, but it still showing i must unlock them first
Yeah, when I looked around to see if my problem happened for anyone else (I didn’t see anyone else experiencing my problem), I saw that your problem is actually sorta common. If I remember correctly, you fix it by logging out and closing, then re-opening and logging back in, and if it doesn’t work immediately, do it a couple more times. Hope you get your problem fixed!
